Over the last two months the #LANDoftheBRAVEfilm post-procution team pushed to picture lock our movie. B-roll footage was filmed and edited into the fine cut. A test screening with a focus group was hosted. Valuable colour grading knowledge was transferred to aspiring & established filmmakers. And finally, a second teaser for our movie was edited & distributed on social media.

The #LANDoftheBRAVEfilm director & cinematographer spent a few days filming B-roll footage. Generic shots of Windhoek City at various times of day & night were needed for the edit to seamlessly tell the passage of time throughout the story. The B-roll footage adds texture to the movie and provides the audience with a better understanding of the locations where the action takes place.

Before locking the picture edit of #LANDoftheBRAVEfilm the producer opted to host a test screening with a focus group. The test screening provided the post-production team with some valuable insight into the overall flow of the story and how a local audience will perceive it. The test scores were positive and we look forward to sharing #LANDoftheBRAVEfilm with all of you in October this year.

Last tweaks were done to the fine cut after the test screening and three weeks ago the director declared #LANDoftheBRAVEfilm Picture Lock. Three major processes toward finishing our movie have since kicked off, namely the audio post production, the music composition & the final colour grade.

In the interest of further building local capacity, our editor who underwent an intensive two-day colour grading training at the end of last year, exposed some of our local film enthusiasts to the basics of this particular filmmaking skill.

21 March 2019 marked Namibia’s 29th Independence celebrations. Coinciding with our country’s National Day, the #LANDoftheBRAVEfilm team dropped the second teaser for our movie. The idea behind Teaser #2 is to showcase some of the scenes set in pre-idenpendent Namibia and how these impact on the present day. If you haven’t watched Teaser #2 yet, click the links below.

Caillin Basson was the Line Producer on #LANDoftheBRAVEfilm. Typically, the Line Producer manages the budget of a production, in addition to managing the day to day scheduling and logistics.

"I’ve been involved with the film industry since the age of 15. I grew up in Swakopmund and heard that Wesley Snipes was shooting a movie there, so I volunteered to help out during the school holidays. The bug bit, and I've never looked back since. I’ve worked on documentaries for the BBC, feature films such as "Mad Max: Fury Road” and reality shows like 'The Amazing Race'. Coupled with my background in law, I gained a wide range of skills through practical experience, both locally and internationally.

#LANDoftheBRAVEfilm was my first local feature.  It was one for the books as it introduced me to the vast amount of local talent both in crew and cast. This production challenged the norms of any production I’ve worked on as the Producer and Director were adamant to develop skills, show appreciation and facilitate the growth of everyone involved with the film.”
