The Used Book Fair Returns!

Save Your Used Books, CDs, DVDs, Vinyl Records, and Video Games

The third grade classes at Ormondale are sponsoring a Used Book Fair to help a needy global charity that will be decided upon by the 3rd grade students. They would like the community to use one of the 4 “r”s of waste management, reuse, in order to help the charity and save our environment as well.

Through March 23rd, you will be able to drop off your children’s books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, and video games. We will accept adult books in limited categories: cookbooks, self help, parenting, coffee table, and travel only, as well as CD’s and DVDs.  Due to e-readers, it is difficult to sell novels.

There will be kids out front collecting your donations in the morning drop off line at Ormondale starting on February 26th. For Corte Madera families, there will be a collection box in the library.

We hope that the entire community can join in the bargains, from March 26th to March 30th in the Ormondale MUR.

GET READY FOR ORMONDALE'S SCIENCE FAIR AND INVENTION CONVENTION!

The Fair starts on Tuesday February 6th, when students can bring their displays to the Ormondale MUR just before school. Ormondale's Science Night will be held Thursday the 8th from 6:00-7:00 pm. It's a time when families can come to view the displays, and hear what our resident Scientists and Inventors have been up to!

Please plan to come a little early and have dinner as there will be two food trucks at Ormondale to help with the dinner time crunch: Curve Ball- a sliders truck, and North Border- a Tex Mex Truck.

We look forward to seeing you there!

UPCOMING CULTURAL ASSEMBLY

Thanks to the support of the PV-PTO, Ormondale students will see an African Dance Troupe perform during assembly on Wednesday, 2/14.

Super Beets
By Ms. Grech & Mrs. Fast’s Classes

January’s superfood was beets.  This superfood is packed with lots of vitamins such as A and K. They have iron, zinc, magnesium, and calcium which are great for your body.  Beets have an earthy taste and come in a variety of colors.  However, red beets are the most popular.  Beets and other potassium-rich foods can help decrease the risk of heart disease and strokes.  And you're in luck: winter is prime-time for beets. And they're so versatile, you can steam, fry, pickle, juice, boil, slow cook, pressure cook, or eat them in a salad. Take your pick!

We have a joke for you.  What is a beets favorite song?
Are you ready?
The answer is - “Beat It” by Michael Jackson.

Last month we made a beet chip recipe with rosemary, sea salt, pepper, olive oil and beets of course.  We used our dehydrator to make the chips crunchy.

Robert’s Supermarket has generously partnered with Ormondale School and will be providing all the fruits and vegetables for our superfood program and recipes.  Please support Roberts by shopping in their stores.

Click here for the delicious beet chip recipe.  Enjoy!
