New Year's Intensions Regardless of how you started 2020, it's safe to say it probably did not go the way you'd planned. The dawn of a new year can’t come soon enough. The turn of the calendar brings both the opportunity to reflect on the last 12 months and the chance to begin planning for the next dozen. There is still good reason to have hope and optimism for the future, even if that feels a little hard right now. Focus on more fulfilling change. Working on more modest goals means you will be more likely to achieve them and the satisfaction that comes with that. Setting achievable goals also means working on things that are personally relevant and meaningful and fit your current situation. Don’t plan on looking at these as “resolutions” but rather “intentions” for the new year. Set checkpoints throughout the year to measure your progress and create a game plan of specific steps for each of your new intentions. Don’t plan on setting harsh deadlines to achieve your new intentions, but rather check in on yourself throughout 2021. Whether goal setting is your way to do it or not, spend time preparing yourself for the year ahead and work towards progress, not perfection, in the new year.
