UNICEF Child Friendly Cities Initiative   Youth Action Plan Workshop #1

Picture

As part of Boulder's efforts to become a recognized UNICEF Child Friendly City, Growing Up Boulder, the City of Boulder, and Mayamotion Healing kicked off the first of two Youth Action Plan Workshops. On September 30, 2024, a dynamic group of 35 participants, including youth and adults, engaged in meaningful dialogue about some of the most pressing issues facing children and youth in Boulder. After a reintroduction to the UNICEF Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI), members of the City's Youth Opportunity Advisory Board led activities that encouraged young people to share their experiences on key issues like safe outdoor play, bullying, and community engagement. Participants discussed their top priorities, which will shape an upcoming, city Youth Action Plan. At the second workshop, scheduled for November 6, 2024, attendees will finalize priorities and brainstorm solutions. A CFCI Youth Committee will form in January 2025 to develop the Plan for City Council review in spring 2025.

This will be the 3rd time since 2010 that young people have been involved in the BVCP through Growing Up Boulder's partnership with the city.

Save the date!

Celebrate 50 years of the BVCP at an all-ages kick-off event. There will be fun activities for kids and adults, ways to get involved, and a special talk from State Demographer Elizabeth Garner!
