Team 7373

Picture

At the FTC State Championship, Team 7373 dealt with some major mechanical difficulties. They worked very hard throughout the day, and while they are not moving onto the next competition, they had an opportunity to make lasting relationships with other Georgia teams! They are very proud of Team 11364 and will be cheering them on at The FTC World Championship!

Team 11364

Picture

Team 11364 performed well in the competition with consistent autonomous runs and high scores, and they spent a large portion of the day improving their intake arm to increase reliability. The team received second place in the qualification matches, becoming a semifinalist alliance captain! At the end of the day, 11364 received the Think Award for their excellent engineering documentation along with the 3rd Place Inspire Award which recognized them for resembling a model FIRST team. Because they placed third for the Inspire Award, 11364 is advancing to the World Championship in Houston, a first in Eagle Robotics history!

Discover FLL Jr.

As of last week, Eagle Robotics has gained 12 new recruits! Led by Mrs. Moss and Mrs. Baker, these Kindergarten and first-grade students will be getting an Introduction to FLL Jr. and FIRST as a whole! This 5-week adventure will be filled with problem-solving, collaboration, and learning!

Learning from Astronaut Shane Kimbrough

Picture

Teams 7373 and 11364 had the opportunity to Skype with Astronaut Shane Kimbrough on February 21. They were able to learn about many aspects of robotics in space and even further information on scientific experimentation in space.  It was also really neat to hear about the potential for commercialization of space travel with companies like SpaceX! Coming up...

Girls in STEM

On March 20th, Team 11364 member, Sarah McCune, will host a Girls in STEM presentation for the eighth grade girls at Mount Paran, along with members of Team 7373, Kristy Moss and Emily Roberts. In this meeting, they will discuss the STEM opportunities that will be presented to the girls in high school and the need for girls in the programs at school. Through this discussion, the Eagle Robotics members hope to inspire the rising high school girls to become involved in a STEM program or join a robotics team at school.

Bluebird Initiative

Picture

Coming up, we will be participating in a Bluebird initiative in collaboration with the MPCS lower school and under the guidance of Jim Bearden, a master gardener and founder of Green Meadows Preserve Park Bluebird Trail. Our goal is to help expand and protect the bluebird population while teaching students the importance of conservation.  Lower school students will be involved in observations, data collection, and tracking of the local bluebird population. High school Eagle Robotics will be assisting the students in their data collection and maintenance of the 3 bluebird boxes around the campus.

STEM Expo Robotics Exhibit

Picture

On March 26, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. on the Mount Paran campus, Eagle Robotics will be representing FLL and FTC Robotics at STEM Expo Night. Team members from both FTC teams, Team 11364 Diamond Plate and Team 7373 Carbon Fiber, will be exhibiting the game from the 2017-2018 season Relic Recovery. Team members will be able to share their experience with FTC and promote the engineering aspects of not only GA FIRST Robotics but also engineering as a career.

MAYker Showcase

Eagle Robotics received a request to present at the MAYker Showcase hosted at the Art Station – Big Shanty on the afternoon of May 4th. The event is focused on highlighting various STEAM activities, homemade video games, maker tutorials, demonstrations, and more. The teams plan on building the field to drive robots and setting up a presentation booth. The event is open to the public and all are welcome!
