Learn More Advice From Will Smith You Never set out to build a wall...it always begins with the first brick Whether your goal is to lose weight, or gain strength, or build a skill - you will never succeed by looking at the mountain in front of you and measuring success by your ability to climb it in a single day of good intentions. Who's in?!! Weight Management Seminar Saturday, 11:45am TOPIC: Energy Balance 101 I find that many people I speak to have a general understanding of what calories are, but don't really understand how they affect our weight, what an "average" intake is, or how food choice affects calorie density of a meal, etc. Moreover, I find even less people can accurately describe what the infamous "Calories In VS Calories Out" model is, what all its moving parts are and how they interact, what aspects you can modify and what you cannot, and ultimately what it means to be in a caloric surplus (weight gain), or a caloric deficit (weight loss). Energy balance is the biochemistry and physiology of weight management - but of course, sustaining change in your body composition may begin with knowledge, but it ends with action. The action part is really where most people fail, but do not be one of the one's who fail because you don't understand the basics. If you know the basics, you are also less likely to fall for clever, sciencey-sounding diet marketing. Join me this Saturday for a short review of Energy Balance! There is no cost to attend. I find that many people I speak to have a general understanding of what calories are, but don't really understand how they affect our weight, what an "average" intake is, or how food choice affects calorie density of a meal, etc.
