Home International Trade Join Today Massive Multi-Million Boost for Tipperary The County Tipperary economy received a massive boost this week with the announcement that LIT is on track to become a Technological university (TU). The bid to become the countries third TU, in conjunction with Athlone Institute of Technology, is estimated to be worth a whopping €420 million to the economy. The new university, which opens in September 2021,serves a student body of 15,000 with a staff of 1,200 and indirect employment to a further 800 people. The AIT-LIT Consortium, which comprises six campuses including one in Clonmel and Thurles, officially submitted its application to the Irish Government this week. Read More Here Another Thrilling Tipperary Win A further boost to the county came with the win by Tipperary Blueway in the Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards (ELG). The 53km Suir trail was the winner in the Supporting Tourism category with Tipperary County Council. Suir Blueway Tipperary is a kayaking and canoe trail from Cahir to Carrick-on-Suir and a 21km walking and cycling trail from Clonmel to Carrick-on-Suir (or vice versa) along the beautiful River Suir. Buy Christmas Voucher Online Retail Will Run Again in 2021 Congratulations to the four Tipperary businesses who got a share of the €5.3m grant aid under the Covid-19 Online Retail scheme. Daverns of Cashel, Ger Gavin Home Interiors Ltd, Jim McLoughney Menswear and Melfer Ltd t/a McCormacks Pharmacy were among 145 retailers to receive funding via the scheme which aims to drive Irish retailers’ online sales at home and abroad. Enterprise Ireland will be opening a new call under the Covid-19 Online Retail Scheme in early 2021. The Online Retail Scheme was open to Irish-owned retailers with a physical store and a pre-existing online presence who employ 10 or more people. In addition, the scheme focuses on retailers predominantly selling products to individual consumers as opposed to those selling mainly to business customers. Grants can be used to fund fees for service providers, develop and implement a digital strategy supported by in-house training and enhance the retailer’s website. The scheme is complementary to the €2,500 Trading Online Vouchers, provided through the Local Enterprise Offices for companies with up to 10 employees.
