2022 Year End Summary Report

Mission Statement:
The purpose of Good Neighbors is to help families and individuals in times of crisis and need with clothing, emergency food and support.

Organization Information:
Good Neighbors, Inc. is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3), charitable organization. Form 990 is filed with the IRS annually. Internal audits are completed annually. We are registered with the Ohio Attorney General as a charitable organization. Good Neighbors, Inc. has met all 20 Better Business Bureau Charity Accountability Standards.

Good Neighbors, Inc. is a volunteer-run organization with only one
part-time paid office employee who serves all Good Neighbors locations.

It was a simple beginning when friends Laura McClure and Nurse Frances Watson helped a family in need with clothing. Since 1957, Good Neighbors has grown from the basement of these two caring women, to the first organized unit in North Hill, to sixteen centers. Currently, more than three-hundred volunteers operate our six  locations.

Good Neighbors emphasizes the person to person approach, believing that the people we serve need the personal interaction of our caring volunteers, rather than an impersonal hand-out. We are neighbors helping neighbors, offering a hand-up, not a hand-out.

Families and individuals in need receive clothing and emergency food, free of charge. Some of our units offer pet food, layettes, diapers, school supplies, personal care supplies, cleaning supplies, household items and have special distributions for the holidays.

Client visits are permitted every thirty days with a referral and identification. Written referrals from schools, churches, medical professionals, social services and government agencies are accepted.  Online referrals can be obtained by calling Info-Line at 330-376-4850 for food or 330-376-6660 for clothing.

Good Neighbors relies on donations and financial contributions from individuals, businesses, foundations, schools, churches, civic and social organizations to fulfill our mission.
