September News What's New in September 2018 Scholarship Recipients Celina Education Foundation awarded $50,000 in scholarships to deserving CHS graduating High School seniors at the annual Scholarship Night on May 14, 2018 at Celina High School. As a cornerstone of our foundation, scholarships are awarded each year to graduating seniors who plan to continue their education beyond high school. With your support we will be able to award another $50,000 to this year's senior class of 2019 ! Scholarship applications will become available in Spring 2019. Attention Teachers! Introducing Grants for Great Ideas! Grants for Great Ideas is a new grant program Celina Education Foundation is implementing for the 2018-2019 school year. All CISD teachers who are members of Celina Education Foundation are eligible to submit a grant application for a classroom-based learning experience th ey would like to implement that would otherwise not be funded by CISD. The goal of Celina Education Foundation's Grants for Great Ideas is to encourage innovation in the classroom learning environment by choosing at least 4 CISD teachers to receive a grant in order to implement their great idea within their classroom. Grant applications will become available October 1, 2018 and will be due on November 16, 2018. Grant recipients will be notified by December 14, 2018. Each ticket holder will begin their tour with a complimentary brunch followed by a fun shopping tour on the square. Ticket holders will enjoy visiting each participating merchant and receiving a special gift at each stop along the tour. First In Line for Afternoon Carpool Jennifer Thomas won the "First in Line for Afternoon Carpool" for O'Dell Elementary at this past year's Wild West Charity Auction and has definitely put it to good use! This is one of the many "Priceless" items available each year at the auction...just look at that smile! An Evening with Chef Joey Dawkins Thank you to Heather Marx Cunningham and her amazing CARE Auction team for a wonderful evening with the notable Celina celebrity chef of all chefs, Joey Dawkins (and thanks to him for his participatory donation)! Our auction prize was LEGIT! Charcuterie board (that would rival Napa), gourmet baked bone marrow spread with herbs on crostinis, Joey’s own pickled beets with goat cheese and candied pecan spring salad (all from a local organic farm), braised beef in an INSANE French-inspired reduction sauce with caramelized pearl onions (in local honey) over potatoes. For dessert...blackberry cobbler with Tillamahook ice cream and fresh berries. It was a decadent evening for sure! The CARE Auction was a great time. This particular auction item was worth the sweat-beads of bid-checking status all night!!!!!
