ITAT Celebrates GASO

This month, our students celebrated Great American Smokeout on November 17th. All month long, our youth prepared activities and booths to share with their peers on this day. At the booths, they shared facts and statistics about smoking and vaping, and other students had the opportunity to answer questions and do pushups or jumping jacks to win a prize. Our students emphasized that vaping and second had smoke make it difficult to do exercises like these.

ITAT students also sold soda pop with the quote "POP the habit! SAY NO TO SMOKING AND VAPING!" and gave out smarties saying "Be smart, don't start". They also gave out facts and statistics on vaping and prizes for students who answered vaping questions correctly during lunch.

                    Life is Worth Living

Along with our ITAT activities to celebrate GASO, ITAT youth focused on Life is worth living by helping to plan an assembly all about suicide prevention. They had a guest speaker who lost his brother and his best friend to suicide and he shared suicide prevention knowledge as well as positive messages for students to help them spread positivity. ITAT students also participated in a month long activity to spread kindness where they were assigned a random classmate and instructed to collect positive attributes about that classmate all month. At the end of the month they shared the attributes they found.
