The purpose of Good Neighbors is to help families and individuals in times of crisis and need with clothing, emergency food and support.

A supporter dropped off donations at our food center and said that when she was growing up, her mom received help from Good Neighbors.
​She was thankful for our help and wanted to give back.

In 2025, volunteers at our 6 locations gave more than 42,236 hours to help approximately 21,000 families with food and 8,000 families with clothing. Many of these families received hygiene items, pet food, diapers, layettes, holiday gifts and school supplies.

Good Neighbors 2026 Governing Board

    Our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of Mike Trinko. He served as our past trustee and was a long-time volunteer at Green Good Neighbors. He was very helpful taking Green Good Neighbors extra clothing donations to our Superior-Wooster Unit.  

    During the government shutdown, we had quite an increase in client visits, record numbers. We were serving more than 100 families a day during the 3 hours we were open. Our volunteers served 138 families on Wednesday, October 29th.
    In 2025, our food center volunteers gave hours 16,110 hours to serve more than 12,481 families (43,780 individuals) during the 573 hours that we were open. 
    We are very grateful to our many supporters who drop off donations and help to fund our food center. 
    ACME Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Giant Eagle, Panera Bread, Wayside Furniture and the Humane Society helped to support our food center with donations or financial support.
    Carter Jones Lumber Company Employees drop off gift cards every Thanksgiving and Christmas to help purchase food for our clients.
    Cameron Cunert from Peoples Bank presented us with a $1,000 check for our food center.
    Towpath Credit Union in Fairlawn held a new and gently used shoe and sock drive for our food center and Superior-Wooster clients. They will be delivering the donations at the end of January. 
    The widow's club Alpha "Krappa" recently donated funds.
    The Staff at the Akron Community Foundation collected food and hygiene items for our food center and will be delivering the donations soon.
    Every Fall, the Summit County Prosecutor's Office drops off calendars for our clients. 
    The United Way of Summit and Medina County provided grocery store gift cards for our clients. They visited our food center on December 18th, to take pictures of our clients receiving the gift cards.
    In 2025, the following churches donated items or provided funds:
Bath Church, Cottage Grove Church, Eastwood Church of the Brethren, Emmanuel United Church of Christ, First Church of the Brethren, Grace Baptist Church, Green Valley United Methodist Church, Harmony Springs Christian Church, St. Mark's Lutheran Church's (Church Walk), St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Wedgewood Methodist Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
    In 2025, the following foundations provided grants:
M.G. O'Neil Foundation, Akron Community Foundation, Maynard Family Foundation, Welty Family Foundation, Lehner Family Foundation, Sisler McFawn Foundation, Magnolia Star Foundation, Mills Memorial Foundation, Boggess Foundation, Calhoun Trust, Corbin Foundation and Catholic Charities.
    The following schools held holiday food drives for us:
Firestone High School, Rimer CLC, McEbright CLC, Windemere CLC, Barber CLC, NIHF Stem High School Student Council and Akron Early College Student Council. Thank you to Bill Sudduth for coordinating and picking up these donations. Mike Letta, Bill Wise, John Bates, Bill Genovese, Paul Iacobucci and Jerry McLean assisted with the donations.  
    Get well wishes for Bill Genovese, Gail McAlister and Ted Iler. Continued prayers for Darleen Strawn Slater, Jim Cuckler, Judy Wilson and the Wise Family.
    Cecil Larabee volunteered on Tuesdays for many years but is no longer volunteering. He always cooked lunch for the Tuesday crew. He
is missed, we appreciate his service and dedication.
    Our volunteers visit the food bank every day that we are open and at times, on days that we are closed. On several visits in November, they picked up 17,000-20,000 pounds of food. IBH Volunteers continue
​to help unload our large orders.
    Jenny Siebert, Mike Letta, BJ Gaspro, Deborah Hayden, Kathy Frye, Renee Cupps, Bill Sudduth, Bob & Lynn Roberts, Jim & Bobbie Stone, Bill Wise, Paul Iacobucci, Bill Genovese, Kelli Heid, Roger & Susan Reynolds and Gail McAlister pick up food orders from the food bank and other stores.
    Thank you to our many caring volunteers who donate their time and much needed items every week and help to fund our food center.
    Recently, Beth & Brad Burch, Jerry & Lisa McLean, Flo  Iacobucci, Susan & Roger Reynolds, Jim & Bobbie Stone, Ted  Iler, Patti Margolis, Deanna Gartman, Margo Terry, Nancy  Broderick, Becky Kroah, Connie Shaub, Bonnie Zupkow, John & Julie Bates, Mark & Jenny Siebert and past volunteers Bob Wilson, Jerry McCarty, Cindy Johns and Holly Aughenbaugh donated much needed items and/or funds. 
    Many of our volunteers brought their family members with them to volunteer over the holidays. We really appreciate the extra help!
    Thank you to Sharon Connor, our Council Representative for the 10th Ward, she is always helpful to our volunteers and food center.
    George Camilletti replaced our large American flag that hung on the wall in our lobby for years but recently went missing. He continues
to help with our food bank ordering and wherever needed.
    Thank you to all of our volunteers for your service and dedication. A  special thanks to our crew leaders: Jenny Siebert on Mondays, Beth Burch on Tuesdays, Bob & Lynn Roberts on Wednesdays, Wilma McMasters on Thursdays. We appreciate their extra help each week.
    We appreciate our Wednesday volunteers and the Cox Family for working on Thanksgiving Eve, our Monday and Tuesday volunteers for working the week of Christmas and the volunteers who picked up food orders and maintained our food center while we were closed.
    Kathy Frye manages our food center, keeps it cleaned and organized, places orders for food and supplies and picks up the orders. She also serves as the Good Neighbors Vice President and Trustee.
    Bill Wise maintains our food center, office and annex buildings and property. He serves as the Good Neighbors Trustee Chairman. He recently fixed and cleaned up our Annex's basement water leak then spent time fixing our food center's furnace that quit working. He is always volunteering his time to work on maintenance and improvement projects. Because of his skills and dedication, he saves us both time and money on maintenance and improvement projects. 
    Charlene Nevada Krummel serves as the Good Neighbors Ways & Means Chair. She has been busy writing grants to foundations and letters to local churches to help fund our food center and central office. Thanks to her hard work, we have received many financial donations. 
    Our food center is open Monday through Thursday from 12-3 p.m. We close for holidays and when the schools are closed due to the weather.

Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors (4th Quarter Newsletter)  Households Served - over 1,500 families were served multiple times with food, clothing and toiletries. Our clients base increased by 6%.
Old Fashioned Holiday - Holiday goodies and multiple gifts were given to over 500 children. Each family received a gift card to Acme.
School Supply Giveaway - we provided grade level filled backpacks
to over 600 children.
Volunteers - Our team of 50 rotating volunteers continue to amaze us with all their hard work and commitment!
We logged over 15,555 volunteer hours during 2025.

Helping the Community since 1968.

    Chris Krinjeck Bolyard manages the Ellet Unit and reported that about 20 families a month have been receiving food and 15 families a month have been helped with clothing. 
    We were open on December 23rd. Gift cards and toys were given to children for Christmas. 
    Any and all donations are needed.

    Patricia Stiles manages the Green Unit and is thankful for their very dependable and hardworking volunteers. 
    In 2025, our volunteers gave 6,675 hours to help 1,334 families (3,969 individuals) with food and 664 families (2,304 individuals) with  clothing. Many families with children received back to school supplies and holiday gifts.
    Every month, we distribute 50 food boxes to our senior citizens. 
    We are saddened by the loss of our long-time dedicated volunteer Mike Trinko.
    Thanks to our donors and Wayside Furniture, we received $4,800 from Wayside's annual After Thanksgiving Charity Giving Event. 
​    The 5th graders at Saint Francis de Sales Chapel and Catholic School held a Cereal Box Domino event. After setting up hundreds of boxes and successfully completing their project, they donated a portion of their "dominos" to Green Good Neighbors. The kids had a great time and we are thankful for their donations!
    Thank you to everyone who attended The City of Green's Trick or Treat Trail on October 18th at Central Park. Food was collected and donated to Green Good Neighbors. It sure helps our pantry and allows
us to help others. 
    A special thanks to The City of Green, Green Family YMCA,  Human Bean, Novacare, Greenview Assisted Living, Cap Trust of Green, Loving Hands Preschool, Harpst Becker LLC & Employee Contributions, Jeff Evans Insurance Company, Wayside Furniture, Messiah Lutheran Church, Lakeview Christian Church, Queen of Heaven Church, Green Valley United Methodist Church, Francis de Sales Chapel and Catholic Church and Greensburg United Methodist Church

    We were open the first 3 Wednesdays in December and distributed  Christmas gifts and gift cards to our clients.
    We have great community support and wonderful volunteers.

    Wilma McMasters and Lee Thomas manage the Superior-Wooster Clothing Unit and reported that we are always in need of baby diapers, personal care items and new underclothing.
    In 2025, we helped approximately 720 families with clothing.
    We are grateful to Green Good Neighbors for assisting with clothing donations. We are sad to hear that Mike Trinko who brought donations to us has passed away. Thank you to Green Good Neighbors Volunteers Denise and Susan for taking over delivering the donations to our unit. 
    We are fortunate and grateful to Centenary United Methodist Church for allowing us to use their building for so many years.
    Open on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. until noon. 

    Candy Lorkowski manages the Tallmadge Unit and reported that our Tallmadge unit helped 1,228 individuals with food and 887 individuals with clothing for the 2025 year.
    Our volunteers donated 2,056 hours, we were open 44 days and had
​27 new families.
    When news of budget cuts came, several people stopped by to donate extra to be sure that we had the funds to continue our mission. They were relieved to hear that we are community supported, not government funded.
    We would like to thank our community for its very generous and continuing support. We are very Blessed.
