I am so excited to send this month's email, which is dedicated to our theme for the year, Together WE Can by featuring all of the details and teasers for the All School BBQ on September 21st . What better way to connect than by being together--celebrating our growth and achievement on state tests with student awards, playing old fashioned family picnic games, eating delicious food, kicking off the Read-a-thon, and forming clubs with those who share our interests! Please read this newsletter and plan on coming to this event. It is a joy to be part of this organization and I cannot wait to interact with all of you, play with you, and get so many more fun things going for the best year ever! Thursday, September 21 5:00-7:00 p.m. Orchard City Town Park 11245 2100 Rd, Orchard City, CO 81410 - meat will be provided - (Please bring your own drinks + a side-dish to share) RSVP Here no later than September 14. - fun, Fun, FUN with Families - lawn games - Celebrating Testing Growth & Success with Awards - Learn about the Read-a-Thon Fundraiser - Picture Retakes - Learn about, join, and/or start a VCA Club! - Academic Letter Awards - and, of course, BBQ READ-a-THON On Monday, September 25th, Vision Charter Academy will launch it's first read-a-thon. Each learner will be challenged to read at least 30 minutes per day over the course of the two week fundraiser (September 25th-October 5th). Family and friends will be able to easily make donations via our online process with a card, by cash, or check. Proceeds will go to support VCA clubs and any other student-led initiatives. The goal for this year is $10,000 !!! Yay!! Our test scores are rising! A majority of our learners showed marked improvement on their state assessment results. Together, we “eclipsed” the previous year’s results! Congratulations! Vision Charter Academy will celebrate ALL of our learners’ growth and achievement at our school-wide celebration and BBQ on September 21st,from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Field of Dreams Pavilion in Orchard City Town Park. Challenge your friends, family, teachers to beachball volleyball, three-legged race, turtles, tag, and water balloons. Would you rather show your skills at lawn games? How about bocce ball, corn hole, ladderball, or washers? We also will have some games for the younger set too like hula hoops and Duck, Duck, Goose. We encourage everyone to get involved in every game! One thing we won’t have is...boredom. So come prepared to laugh and play with our amazing community of VCA. Reve Photography will also be present at the September 21st BBQ to take school picture retakes if you missed the opportunity on registration day. Even if you are not buying pictures, it is important that each learner have a school issued ID. VCA Learners Join the Civil Air Patrol Last Monday night marked the first annual Civil Air Patrol induction ceremony. The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force and the following VCA learners joined! Throughout the year, we will be taking trips around Western Colorado learning about the water, electricity, food production, manufacturing, and history in our area. Exploration activities are supplemental unit studies that provide a hands on environment for exploring the world. Classes will be held at all three campuses throughout the year. Delta and Surface Creek campuses will alternate hosting each series (3-4 weeks long) on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30. North Fork classes will be on Thursday afternoons as advertised. All learners are welcome to attend. Registration is on a first come basis and classes are limited to 15 students.
