Good Neighbors, Inc. The purpose of Good Neighbors is to help families and individuals in times of crisis and need with clothing, emergency food and support. December 17, 2021 Good Neighbors Wayside Furniture held their annual after Thanksgiving fundraiser to benefit the Good Neighbors Units and other local charities. Thank you to all who contributed and to Wayside for their continued support. Thank you to Acme Fresh Market, they will be donating $7,200 in Acme gift cards to our food pantries from their annual Pack the Pantry fundraiser. We appreciate the support and generosity from Acme and the community. Good Neighbors is a true nonprofit organization with more than 300 volunteers that operate our 6 units, and only one part-time (24 hours) paid administrative employee. Most all of the funds that we receive go directly to assisting the families and individuals visiting Good Neighbors. Unit Activities Good Neighbors Community Outreach and Food Center We are very grateful to all of our supporters but would like to send a special thank you to Amanda Patterson and Robert Behringer for their very generous donation and continued support. Russ Murphy and the staff from Carter Lumber in Akron donated turkeys for Thanksgiving. A Cuyahoga Falls Firefighter and his family donated new toys and food for the families visiting our food center during the holidays. Jim Callahan made wooden gifts for the families visiting our food center during the holidays. He does this every year. We appreciate his kindness and send him get well wishes. The following schools recently held food drives to benefit our food center: Miller-South, Ellet , Robinson and Firestone . The students and staff at Firestone CLC made a monetary donation, too. Valerie Straw coordinates the school food drives and George Camilletti , Mike Letta , Bill Sudduth , Roger Reynolds and Paul Iacobucci pick up, load and unload the donations. The Albrecht Family will be volunteering to help Valerie Straw sort and organize the food drive donations. The Bath Church, Cottage Grove Church, Family of Faith United Methodist Church, Firestone Park Christian Church, First Congregational Church of Akron, Grace Baptist Church, Green Valley Methodist Church, Harmony Springs Christian Church of Green, Wedgewood United Methodist Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church provide funding and donations throughout the year. Sara Booker , the staff and residents at Mulberry Gardens are collecting personal care items for the families visiting our food center. Panera Bread, Whole Foods and Giant Eagle donate food to our food center throughout the year. Thank you to the many volunteers who pick up these donations and make daily trips to the food bank and Acme to pick up our food orders. This year, we received grants from the Corbin Foundation, Welty Family Foundation, Magnolia Star Foundation, Mills Memorial Foundation, Sisler McFawn Foundation, Moffitt Foundation, Demetros Trust, Ritchie Memorial Foundation, WITAN and Catholic Charities. We appreciate their continued support. Thank you to Charlene Nevada-Krummel and George Camilletti for their hard work writing the grants for our food center and office. Get well wishes for Ann Tyler , she volunteers on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are looking forward to her return. We have been distributing turkeys and will be distributing hams to many families visiting our food center during the holidays. Musician Taylor Carano is holding a benefit at the Jenks Building on December 17th to benefit the Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors. Metropolis Popcorn is fundraising for the Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors at their “Festivus” Event on December 23rd. Lead to Conversion made a generous monetary donation and donations of personal care items. Boy Scout Troop #155 at Northminster Presbyterian Church held a C amp Out to End Hunger food drive, they collected food and hygiene supplies. Cub Scout Pack #3154 collected and delivered donations to the Cuyahoga Falls Unit. Cuyahoga Falls Chiropractic had a box at their clinic to fill with donations for the Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors. NeoNet made a generous monetary contribution and donated non-perishable and toiletry items. They received more than 600 pounds of food from the Great Lakes Honda of Akron Trunk or Treat food drive. The Elks Lodge #1923 made a generous monetary donation. The employees at the Home Depot Store on Howe Avenue held a food drive and made a monetary donation to benefit the Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors. St. Joseph Church of Cuyahoga Falls organized a Giving Tree for the families visiting the Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors. We appreciate their support throughout the year and allowing the volunteers to use their parking lot. Stow Munroe Falls High School filled a truck with canned goods for the Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors. The Woodland Student Council, students at Kimpton Middle School, Cuyahoga Falls Riverfront YMCA held food drives for the Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors. The residents at Nottingham Gate in Hudson sent a very generous donation from their annual Christmas auction. Their continued support is appreciated. They had another successful holiday drive and assisted 325 families which included approximately 867 people. Ellet Good Neighbors Chris Krinjeck Bolyard reported that after a thorough cleaning of their unit, they have reopened and serving clients by referral and appointment only. When they were closed during the pandemic, many clients were helped with grocery store gift cards. Thank you to the community for their recent donations and continued support. Green Good Neighbors Patricia Stiles reported that during their Christmas give-away, they served 65 families consisting of 165 children. They each went away with a nice bag of gifts. Some donors filled purses with helpful items that were given to each mother of the children. There were 65 purses given away to the mothers and 22 purses to the teenage girls. Each family received a grocery store gift card to purchase their perishable Christmas food and given their regular monthly groceries during their visit. They are grateful to the community for their donations and to their volunteers for all of their help. They would like to thank Darleen Slater and the Emily Klich E state for the generous financial contribution that their unit received. Tallmadge Good Neighbors Candy Lorkowski reported that they had 62 families signed up for Christmas assistance. Each family received a turkey, pie and extra food for Thanksgiving, and received extra food and a $25 gift card for Christmas. The children under 18 years old received gift cards for Christmas, too. Thank you to the Tallmadge Police Department , Tallmadge Acme , Tallmadge Giant Eagle and the Tallmadge Community for their contributions and helping with the Fill-A-Cruiser event that provided the Tallmadge Good Neighbors with $2,000 in cash along with carts and cruisers full of non-perishable food. The volunteers would like to thank the community for it's generosity during Thanksgiving and Christmas and throughout the year. Get well wishes to Dolores Wilmoth who recently suffered a fall and injury. Their unit will be closed the last two weeks in December.
