FHJP helps organize the 2019 Florida Elder Justice Conference

This Conference, the first of its kind in Florida, brings together over 20 state and national experts presenting on a range innovative projects and substantive legal issues impacting low-income Florida seniors. FHJP received funding to prepare the agenda and to identify & recruit speakers for this one and a half-day event. In addition to the state and national elder law experts, special presenters include the Secretary of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and the Florida Attorney General.

FHJP welcomes Alison Yager as Director of Policy Advocacy

Alison Yager, an attorney with 18 years of experience in legal services, policy advocacy, and public health, joined our team this winter. Alison is a recent transplant from New York City, where she most recently worked with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as the Director of Policy for Maternal, Infant, and Reproductive Health.  Alison notes "it's dismaying that Florida's leaders are unwilling to recognize health care as a basic human right. I'm thrilled to be joining FHJP's fight for healthcare access, and am inspired by the strategic campaign underway to expand access in Florida."
