The statistics on student mental health are continuing to be alarming. Last week at One Schoolhouse, we asked if you were you seeing an increase of mental health and wellness cases among your students? 79% of respondents reported an increase in cases, with over a quarter of the responses noting a big increase.

The American Psychological Association reports that students are experiencing more depression and anxiety than any generation before them. This makes the need for a greater focus on student mental health more critical than ever.

Here are some of the ways you can encourage your students to protect their own mental health: maintaining a healthy diet, physical exercise and getting enough sleep to promote wellness; meditation and yoga to help with anxiety; having a routine to help stay structured; and staying connected with friends both digitally or distanced.
