Whats New With Alice Melo Fine Art?

Picture

My New Painting is now completed titled “Wings of Summer", painted on a gallery wrap wood board, measuring 16x20 inches. I used acrylics for the background and the underlay of the butterfly. Oils were used for the flowers and the top layers of the butterfly. The inspiration of the painting stems from my love of painting butterflies. They are a deep and powerful representation of life and they are viewed as depicting endurance, change, and hope. This painting is a marvelous representation of summer.  I am so excited for the season of hot and warm weather. The longer days are upon us, the summer break and vacations, and all the fun summer activities. Let the flip flop season begin.

Painting will be available to view soon at Martello Alley Gallery, located at 203B Wellington St. Kingston Ontario.

So if you read one of my latest blogs on Jardin’Art then you already know what Jardin'Art is all about, but if you haven’t, here is a little info about it.

What is Jardin’Art?  How can you participate?
Jardin’Art is a collaboration of Community, Kingston Local Artists, downtown Businesses and Individual homeowners.
I belong to an amazing artist Collective with common interests in bringing great art to residents and visitors to Kingston in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Not only can you see great art at Martello Alley, located at 203B Wellington St, in an art themed historic alley in downtown Kingston, we also bring new beautiful outdoor art exhibitions yearly.
In an effort to support the business community in downtown Kingston and the local artists, Martello Alley Gallery is again presenting a public outdoor art event called “Jardin’Art” and this year l am really excited to be a participating artist.  Martello Alley creates a walking tour for all the pieces of art, thereby driving potential customers to locations while promoting artists, and the business. Individual homeowners are also encouraged to participate in this awe-inspiring event. At the end of the season the art is yours to keep. How great is that?
I believe that community art can create attachment to one’s Community. It offers social offerings, openness and welcome-ness to one’s business and social setting. Viewing public art has been proven to be one of the most popular activities for residents in different cities around the world.  Jardin’Art gives art a chance to be viewed by everybody. This event not only creates support between artists and businesses but allows people to enjoy the art at no cost just but following a map that is provided, showing the locations of the artwork.  It’s such a great way to embrace art.

Announcement!

I am excited to announce that “Jack Astor’s Bar and Grill Kingston”, is my sponsor for this year’s Jardin’Art. I had the opportunity to meet with the General Manager to discuss the artwork and placement of it. If you’re in the Kingston downtown area, remember to go and enjoy the atmosphere, food and drinks at Jack Astor’s, located at 330 King St. E,  and don’t forget to check out my painting displayed for you to view.

If you are interested in supporting this event please contact us at Martello Alley 613-767-2966 for information on how you can participate in our exciting event!

Meet Jo-Anne Gazo-McKim. I first met Jo-Anne when l joined the group of amazing artists of Martello Alley Gallery in 2016.  Jo-Anne is a gentle and vibrant soul, and l am very fond of Jo-Anne and her work. Her wisdom and talents captured my attention instantly and l love our thought provoking conversations. Jo-Anne is a visual artist with a passion for vibrant colour, texture, contrast and light using a variety of media. She discovered her love for these elements as a child when opening a new box of crayons was like opening the door to wonderful new world of imagination. Drawn to the work of Franz Marc, Wolfgang Ritschel, Gabrielle Munter and August Macke, Jo-Anne identifies with their use of colour, simple shapes and lines as refreshing and appealing. Later in life Jo-Anne ignited her artistic fire by taking courses in drawing and painting.  She unleashed her skills in watercolours and acrylics creating pieces exploding with wonderful colours and bold designs. Her favourite subject matter is the joy found in everyday moments.  Her apparent understanding and interpretation of the beauty of nature and moments shines through her art! Jo-Anne’s recent undertakings have led her to explore the world of digital art. She appreciates that she can experiment with ideas using layers without committing to the finished piece until the end. These works are rich in all the elements that are truly close to Jo-Anne’s artistic heart. If you are looking for art that is alive and full of energy and colour, take a few moments to enjoy her work. I have attached Jo-Anne’s website link. So grab a coffee, relax and have a peek.
