This year’s EMDRIA Conference is taking place in Washington State! Close to home! Check out the schedule and see if it might be of interest to you! Members get a discounted rate so don’t wait until last minute to get the hotel, as they sell out fast. If you’re working towards certification, you will be able to get your CE’s. I attended the last conference in August 2023 and learned a lot! It's a great opportunity to get to know fellow EMDR clinicians and do some networking.

Which Individual Therapist Behaviors Elicit Client Change Talk and Sustain Talk In Motivational Interviewing?
| | | |
Check out this study that explores therapist behaviors in motivational interviewing sessions targeting college students' alcohol use. Using The Motivational Interviewing Skill Code, the study identifies behaviors that either prompt clients to express a desire for change (change talk) or resist change (sustain talk). Results reveal that certain therapist behaviors, such as affirmation and specific types of questions and reflections, are linked to increased change talk. Conversely, giving information and closed questions are associated with less change talk. Understanding these associations can help clinicians enhance the effectiveness of motivational interviewing.

The Effect of EMDR-Based Online Group Counseling For University Students
| | |
"This study highlights how trauma treatment can be useful for those without major trauma. In this study, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) was found to be effective not only in relation to small “t” traumas, but also in building psychological resilience and well-being. It is believed that this study has the potential to contribute to the field of psychological trauma, particularly in terms of broadening the use of EMDR for different applications and in addressing the influence of childhood rearing practices (such as those defined as small-t trauma) on psychological functioning and well-being in later life."

HOW OUR EMDR BASIC TRAINING DIFFERS
|

EMPOWER Training, Consulting and Therapy Inc. guides and teaches you how to create a sense of safety with you so that the real work can be done. Our current national and international pandemic and all that accompanies these uncertain times, requires skills and tools that clients can take home with them and expand their window of tolerance by utilizing what you will be able to teach them. In addition, we teach you how to keep your patients contained to a recent, present, future OR a past trigger, hence meeting them where they are willing and ready to go. There are a lot of EMDR Basic Trainings out there and not all of them include the 10 hours of consultation required to complete the course in the price of one! Do your research and reach out with any questions you might have before signing up for a training! Looking forward to seeing you there!
