There are always jobs to do in the vineyard, but mainly in November we are monitoring the vines for flower development, getting ready for berry formation. The rain has brought more weeds and mowing than normal and shoot development is powering along. Next we will be lifting the first set of wires and continue with monitoring and preventative maintenance.
People have asked if the rain (hail and wind…) has had an impact on the vineyard. It can yes, but up to now, the vineyard has been able to handle the extreme weather conditions. In saying that if those weather conditions continued we would have damage. The new shoots are fragile and can easily snap off which is why we lift the wires to hold the shoots/canopy upright and protect the shoots. Fortunately, it looks like the unseasonal weather is behind us! Touch some wood people…
Please enjoy our wines, Steve & Maree
