Pride! Respect! Responsibility! Pine Ridge PTO Newsletter February 11, 2019 Happy Monday, Ranger Families! I’m hopeful that this morning found all of your homes with power, your minds with sanity, and your hands with a strong cup of coffee! What an “interesting” month it has been. If I’m counting correctly, I believe our kiddos have been in school only 11 full days in the 5 weeks since winter break! We’ve also had a two-hour delay, 2 scheduled half days...and then 10 snow (ice or freezing cold) days. Wow. The opening narration and music to “The Twilight Zone” is stuck in my head! Seriously though, I hope you’ve been able to experience precious memories with your children, neighbors, friends, and community as we pull through this strange winter together! This Thursday is Valentine’s Day and class celebrations will be held from 2:30-3:30. Sign ups came home from each Head Room Parent. Hope to see you there! We have two really fun events coming up this weekend. This Friday, February 15, come cheer the FHC girls’ and boys’ basketball teams to victory against Ottawa Hills. Young Rangers wearing Pine Ridge/FHC spirit wear will get free admission to the games! More details included below. On Saturday night, February 16, we are going to a Griffins Game! It is Star Wars Night and we’ll see all our favorite characters around the arena and cheer on our favorite players on the ice. Tickets orders are due today in the office! Save the date for our next PTO meeting on February 26 at 7pm in the Media Center. We’ll have speakers, snacks, and school updates. All meetings are family friendly so don’t worry about getting a sitter! You’ll be receiving your ticket pre-order forms soon. Remember to save by purchasing your tickets in advance! Spirit Week - Don't forget the week before Carnival is Spirit Week. Current Volunteer Opportunities: Teacher Conference Meals : The PTO organizes dinner for the the staff during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please consider helping by providing food, beverages, or paper products for one of the evenings. Monday, February 18: teacher conference dinner Thursday, February 21: teacher conference dinner Box Tops : The Box Tops Committee needs help counting and sorting Box Tops. They are looking for 1-2 volunteers per grade. Box tops Carnival : Volunteers Needed! We are in need of volunteers to help with Carnival. Remember, we need A LOT of parent help to make this a successful event. Please consider volunteering to run a game, sell tickets, or help in other ways. Grab a friend to volunteer with you! [email protected] , if you would like more information! UPCOMING EVENTS! Valentine’s Day Celebrations : Class celebrations will take place beginning at 2:30, Thursday, February 14. Half Day of School : Friday, February 15 - Dismissal at 11:55am Young Rangers/ FHC Basketball : Come cheer the FHC girls’ and boys’ basketball teams on to victory this Friday, February 15 against Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills with the Pine Ridge Young Rangers Committee! Kids wearing Pine Ridge/FHC/Ranger Rally spirit wear will get free admission to the games (boys start at 5:30 and girls immediately following). The group will be sitting in the Visitors section behind the FHC bench. We will be giving out prizes to the Young Rangers who show the most spirit, so have the kids paint their faces, paint their hair and paint some signs. See you there! Go Rangers! Griffins Night : Join other Pine Ridge families at the Griffins Game for STAR WARS NIGHT on Saturday, February 16. Bright Star Theatre Performances : Bright Start Theatre Company will be doing two performances on February 20, both part of their Black History Tour. PTO Meeting : The next PTO meeting is Tuesday, February 26 at 7pm in the Media Center. All are welcome! Milk and Bookies : Reading month kicks off with this fun event on Thursday, February 28!
