DIA URBAN ARTS TOUR

Finish: 3:45 PM @ Iberia Bank (135 Bay Street)

Join Art in Public Places for a public tour to highlight newly installed streetscape art in downtown Jacksonville.  Six regional artists were commissioned to create engaging and aesthetically pleasing art to enhance the downtown core as Phase 1 of the Downtown Investment Authority (DIA) Urban Arts Project. Several DIA artists will be present for the tour to discuss their contributions to Jacksonville's visual landscape.

DIA URBAN ARTS (PHASE 1) DEDICATION CEREMONY

Start: 4:00 PM @ Iberia Bank (135 W Bay Street)

Celebrate with Art in Public Places, The Cultural Council, City of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Transportation Authority, and the Downtown Investment Authority with the dedication of new downtown streetscape art by six regional artists.  Thanks to Iberia Bank for opening their Lobby for refreshments.

VYSTAR ARTIST LECTURE SERIES: JANET ECHELMAN

The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville and Presenting Sponsor VyStar Credit Union invite you to an exclusive engagement with world-renowned artist Janet Echelman, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at MOCA Jacksonville.  Lecture will begin promptly at 6:00pm with a Q&A with Ben Thompson, Deputy Director of MOCA Jacksonville.

PUBLIC ART LISTENING SESSION

TAKING YOUR ART PUBLIC

Start: 6:00 PM @ Times Union Center for the Performing Arts, Davis Gallery (300 Water Street)

End: 7:30 PM

Artists interested in public art commissions are invited to participate in the Public Art Listening Session hosted by the Cultural Council. Guest emcee Shawana Brooks will lead the discussion with a set of questions related to public art. Artists are encouraged to answer candidly and share their ideas for the advancement and enrichment of public art in the urban landscape.

FRIDAY, APRIL 7

PUBLIC ART TOUR 

Start: 12:00 PM @ Times Union Center for the Performing Arts (300 Water Street)

End: 2:00 PM @ Times Union Center for the Performing Arts

​This free 2-hr guided public art walking tour in the urban core will highlight both private and public art installations from murals and mosaics to historic memorials. Placed within public view, the tour provides an opportunity to view a selection of over thirty works fabricated by artists in a variety of visual art media. Sites for upcoming Art in Public Places projects will also be highlighted on the tour.

The group will meet at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts. This is a walking tour so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes. A portion of the tour will include a complementary ride on the St. John's River Taxi and Tour​.
