Last October I had arugula in my garden with leaves 12" long and 4" wide. I asked God, what is up with this exceptionally large foliage? His response: This will not end. I have zucchini in my orchard with the biggest, greenest leaves I have ever seen.
I am now encouraging people to plant fruit trees in their vegetable gardens. I am seeing that produce; all plant life grows so much better under trees than in the open space. The difference is not subtle: IT IS DRAMATIC. I have strawberries growing under my cherry tree that are considerably bigger and greener than strawberries growing twenty feet away in full sun. So I asked the Creator why? He sent me into my orchard where I have an 11 year old plum tree that has root sprouts 35 feet radius from the tree trunk. So God asked me to go out 35' radius and do a circle around the tree. Now imagine how large that root system is. That tree is not big enough to consume all of the nutrients that are coming in from that large root system, so the tree displaces, exudes the excess out through its foliage. So the plants below the tree are getting nutrients from their own root system, and in addition are receiving nutrients through their foliage from the trees above them. That is huge! So if you have an orchard, cover all the ground with wood chips and plant your squash, watermelon, as well as all melons, and cucumbers in the orchard. In a garden space those plants take up too much space, but in an orchard you have all kinds of space. In the Summer, when it gets hot you will be able to grow lettuce, spinach, cilantro, and arugula under the shade provided by the trees when you could not in an open garden. So the advantage of growing produce under the trees just does not end. Then there is getting so much more productions out of the space you are working with.
This year I planted rice in my wood chip covered garden. I made a quarter of an inch groove in my wood chips, planted rice seed; covered it. It rained and all the rice came up and is growing very nicely. It may not be warm enough, long enough for the rice to fully mature, but it is growing bright green and very full. If it does not fully mature it will be fine chicken feed.
What I am seeing is that God made everything easy and we have been lied to. THANK YOU GOD!!!
Blessings,
Paul
