Growing Up Boulder's
30th Street Improvement Plan Project
| |
“We seek to create a nurturing and empowering environment in which children and families feel seen, heard and valued. The team at Growing Up Boulder did just that in their engagements at the Family Learning Center. It was great to have a part in this engagement, which allowed our children and parents a chance to have their voices heard by the City of Boulder.”
–Family Learning Center Assistant Director
Growing Up Boulder team members, Cathy and Luciana, completed work with the City’s Transportation Department on the 30th Street Transportation project. They worked with families living in San Juan del Centro and the Orchard Grove Manufactured Home Community (both are affordable housing communities) via the Family Learning Center. Their engagement was extremely successful, and City partners were thrilled with the process and outcomes. Click the button below to read our report. Alongside the engagement, a “Toolkit” was created for the Transportation department to use in a fall engagement with youth. This toolkit model is something GUB has wanted to test as an approach for many years to empower more partners to engage youth!

“The traffic light arrow on 30th Street does not work or the cars do not pay attention to it. They go very fast and try to reach the light to make the arrow.”

Walking Field Trips Have Started! | |
Growing Up Boulder and New Horizons Cooperative Preschool kicked off "walking field trips" from the preschool to Primos Park. We learned about kids' and caregivers' wishes surrounding the supplies within a city-constructed playhouse at Primos Park and ended by doing an adventure walk. We are excited to continue these field trips!
