Upon a visit to our neighborhood Dekalb Farmer's Market we stumbled upon a strange fruit that Aidon insisted on trying. Hence, the rambutan. An edible fruit produced by the Sapindaceae tree. The rambutan is native to the Indonesian region, and other regions of tropical Southeast Asia. The inside is medium firm and fleshy with a pit in the center while the outside is hairy and prickly.
