Happy 2020!
I hope this finds you well. This newsletter is to announce an upcoming retreat on April 19th that my mom and I will be hosting again back at Open Sky Retreat Space in Sebastopol, California. Calendars seem to fill up quickly these days so we wanted to send out a 'save the date' and registration for anyone interested in attending our Spring Half-Day Retreat from 9-1pm.
As always, these retreats are designed to assist a turning inward and an opportunity to hit pause on our day-to-day tasks in order to reflect, rest, and be. Having just come back from a little trip in Baja (yep, that sunset ⬆️!), I'm currently drawing upon the slower way of life I experienced there. I'm sure we can all agree that the zippity-zip pace of our culture often feels unnatural and exhausting, making moments of quiet and stillness so precious.
Our intent for this retreat is that through the practices of yoga, meditation, and the spaces in between, we can connect in with our most natural state of being; that well of peace and wisdom within. If you feel inspired as we do to dedicate several hours away from technology, news, and excessive doing, we invite you to join us. See more details below! Plus, a couple winter recipes.

Wishing everyone clear visions in 2020 and open heartedness during this week of Valentine's day.

The retreat ends at 1pm with an option to bring your own lunch and enjoy the grounds afterwards from 1-2pm.

Whether you are celebrating love day or not, this sweet winter treat is a great go-to recipe since it's quick and easy. The fresh gingerroot is warming and great for the colder months. Even though it may be sunny here in California, dry and cold qualities are still present and according to Ayurveda, it's now best to pacify the vata dosha As we move into spring (and when we get more rain!) pacifying the kapha dosha will be the most balancing. The digestive tea to follow is excellent in the winter for overall health, as well as for the transition into spring as it helps the body eliminate excess any mucus that may have accumulated. Both recipes are from Kate O'Donnell's, The Everyday Ayurveda Cookbook. 🧡 | |
- 3/4 cup almond meal
- 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 2 tsp cacao nibs
- 1 egg or 1 flax "egg"
- 1 1/2 tsp coconut oil
- 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tsp finely grated fresh gingerroot
| |
|
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease a cookie sheet with coconut oil. In a small mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, beat the egg with a fork until fluffy. Stir the oil, vanilla, and ginger into the egg. Mix dry and wet ingredients. Use a large spoon to create tablesoon-size balls 2-3 inches apart on a cookie sheet. Press each ball down gently with a fork to flatten the bottom. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the cookies are lightly browned. Cool before removing from the cookie sheet.
