Hello once again members of Jerome Country Club! As we roll into February I find myself optimistic that there will actually be golf activities at the club. Even though my optimism may have no basis in reality, one can hope, right?
This has been one of the least amicable winters for golf in recent memory. The course is getting needed rest, but that does not come without its problems. The course has been covered in snow for over a month and a half and the greens crew is doing everything possible to ensure it will be healthy once the snow is gone. The snow has been removed from the greens to allow the ice, which formed on the surface, to melt. Once we begin to see the snow melt, the conditions on the course will not be ideal. The melt will cause soggy and possible flood conditions. So once we do begin to see bare ground, please make sure you check in with the pro shop before playing.
Other than the weather, the holiday months were a success at the club. The Caddy Shack was open most days for lunch and dinner over the holidays. You may have noticed some additional decor over the last two months. A big shout out goes to Jack Kulm who donated Christmas lights to the club. Another shout out goes to Ron Stansell and Josie and Kim at the Caddy Shack. They helped put up and take down the lights. Jack also donated a stocked first aid kit. Thanks Jack!
This year you will see the removal of our wooden tee signs. The rock tee markers will be taking their place. The wooden signs served the club well, not only by providing hole information, but also gaining extra advertising revenue. The club’s fundraising team is looking to replace the aforementioned revenue with different ads and fundraising. One thing they will be doing is auctioning off the signs for its annual event. So if there is a sign that you would like to take home, be sure to show up for the JCC Fundraising Committee's Annual Summer Smash on June 15th. They will be auctioning off a few signs each year.
That is it for this month. Until then, let’s all pray for some warmer weather. I hope to see you all on the course very soon.
Cheers!
