Progressions Project: Te Ohu Kaitiaki

The NKAI Learning Progressions Framework is based on ‘Te Tihi o Angitu’ and is focused on students from year 1 - 13. The project will have a group (Kāhui Kaitiaki) who will develop the framework which includes how we will show progress across the three Tihi o Angitu (ToA) “Pou” (Cultural Autonomy, Intellectual Independence and Holistic Wellbeing).

NKAI will have three further Ohu leading the development of the progressions for each of the “Pou”.  At least two people from the Kāhui Kaitiaki ToA will be in each Ohu to ensure cohesion and consistency.

Members of the Kāhui Kaitiaki were confirmed at the Wānanga Arataki Kura and they are:

Henarata Ham (Te Kura o Hīrangi), Hemi Tawake (Te Kura o Te Kao), Cheryl Meek (Te Kura o Waikare), Sophie Tukukino (Te Kura Māori o Porirua), Rangimarie Mahuta (Te Wharekura o Rākaumangamanga), Pem Bird (Te Kura Mothuhake o Tawhiuau), Tui Yeager (Te Kura o Matapihi), Duane Allen (Ngā Taiātea Wharekura) and Watson Ohia (NKAI).

The Tomorrow's Schools Review is an important piece of work that makes a number of significant recommendations for changes to the current education system.

The report covers eight key issues: Governance; Schooling Provision; Competition and Choice; Disability and Learning Support; Teaching; Leadership; Resourcing; and Central Government Agencies.

Stakeholder feedback on the report and its recommendations is critical to inform Government decision making in 2019 therefore NKAI encourages all schools to engage with the information and make a submission. Click below for more information!

Thank you to Dr. Prof. Mere Berryman, member of the Tomorrow's Schools Task Force for coming to speak at the Wānanga Arataki Kura in Tūrangi.
