For over a year Martha has diligently served as an SLS caregiver, making a lasting impression on our clients and upon us. While working for SLS, she also took part time classes to achieve her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. Recently passing her state boards, the dream has become reality. We would like to sincerely wish Martha the very best on the bright future that waits before her! World Hospice and Palliative Care Day takes place on October 10 with the goal of improving the quality of life for people affected by serious health problems. Those that have life-limiting illnesses have the right to be cared for in the way that best suits their needs and this holiday emphasizes that. It’s not about “helping someone die,” but instead about helping someone to live as comfortably as possible with their illness. It’s about seeing them as a living person, not a dying patient. It’s supporting those closest to them and adding life to days, whether or not days can be added to lives.
