John Quirke originally began his business career with Brian Purcell Jewellers in Clonmel and upon serving his time, established his own business in 1976 beside the Post Office in Cahir. 

In 1991 John made his move to 14 Castle Street in Cahir where his business is still situated today.

Having found that their factory outlet needed a permanent presence in the area, Tipperary Crystal appointed John as their first off-site retailer and he was also was the first in the region to have computerised engraving.

Skillnets calls for businesses in South East to build management capacity to remain competitive

Business leaders from across the South East gathered in Kilkenny this week to explore how best to build greater management capacity within their businesses. The gathering took place in the Lyrath Estate Hotel, Kilkenny at a learning and development conference co-hosted by Waterford Chamber Skillnet, County Tipperary Skillnet and Carlow Kilkenny Skillnet. Over one hundred delegates from small, medium and large enterprises in counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and Tipperary attended the conference.

Paul Healy, Chief Executive of Skillnets, opened the event and urged businesses to avail of the support available to them to build management expertise through their local Skillnets-funded training networks. “Skillnets provides funding to over sixty training networks; they in turn provide learning and development expertise, subsidised training and networking opportunities to businesses throughout Ireland. Enhancing management capacity, particularly in SMEs, is a national policy imperative and a major priority for Skillnets and its networks..."

Stress Test the Business Idea

‘Limerick Institute of Technology and QUESTUM Acceleration Centre are running an exciting new short programme Stress Test the Business Idea over the last 2 weeks in May .
It will use the latest concepts, models and start-up thinking to ensure that participants have the practical tools with which test their business idea and those who want to refine an existing business model. 

The programme is free to participants and will run in QUESTUM over 4-nights 6.00pm to 9.00pm:
Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th, Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st May

“Look further, think bigger, be ambitious” Bizfest 2017 launched at the National Opera House, Wexford

Bizfest is a free networking event aimed at helping Irish companies to develop their networks and expand their business. “Look further, think bigger, be ambitious” is the theme of this year’s event which takes place on the 21st of June at the National Opera House, Wexford.
Now in its 4th year, Bizfest 2017 will be hosted by the south-east region Local Enterprise Office’s and Enterprise Ireland. The event is sponsored by Bank of Ireland.

Bizfest aims to provide an opportunity for owners, managers and their key staff across Ireland to make connections while immersing themselves in the experience, entrepreneurial spirit and stories of entrepreneurs.
