Ridgewood Crew season update

We are writing you with news that we are sure you all were expecting. That makes it no easier for us to deliver or for you to receive. We are sorry to report that all spring regattas through mid June have been cancelled. We are hopeful that we will be able to continue rowing on the water later this spring. We may have a modified schedule based on state and school guidelines.

We are deeply proud of every Ridgewood Crew rower! We know that the cancellation of all regattas is frustrating, disappointing, and hard especially for our Senior rowers. Your hard-work and dedication has moved and inspired us. Please know we are here for you to continue to train. Coach Boris, Coach Bob, Coach Mike, Coach Georgia, and Coach Bridget.

However, the season is not all lost. Rowers Choice has set up a 'Virtual' National Championship - A virtual 'Stotesbury' if you will! You may register in 'boats of 4 rowers' in the U19 Category. Once you have created your team you use the link to sign up by March 31. There are at least 34 programs signed up so far! Details can be found here: https://www.rowerschoice.com/marchmania

The 2020 ‘Virtual’ National Championship.

No entry fee. No catch.

Teams of 4 athletes - Do you have 4 athletes with access to an Erg?  Great. Make up a team name and send it in.

4 Categories:

  • Under 19 Junior Mens Tournament
  • [must be enrolled in HS]
  • Under 19 Junior Womens Tournament
  • [must be enrolled in HS]
  • Open Mens [19+] Tournament
  • [open to anyone 19 and over!]
  • Open Womens [19+] Tournament
  •  [open to anyone 19 and over!]

Additionally, other virtual regattas and summer regattas may be announced, allowing us to race in more regattas. We are also looking to do something with RC alumni rowers - stay tuned.

Coach Boris will continue to provide training plans 5 times a week for the HS team and 3 times a week for the Development Team. Practices are optional moving forward, but we encourage all rowers to continue to train 3 times a week (DT) or 5-6 times a week (HS). We are still hopeful we can move back to the water for some practice later this spring and race in a summer regatta or two.

Hydrow is a great resource for virtual training. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial of their virtual live and on-demand classes to aid you in your training. Note - you will be charged a fee after the 30-day trial or you may cancel the subscription. Check it out here: https://hydrow.com/
