Just like the Armillary sphere keeps moving, it’s centre is a stabilising anchor amidst the constant change.  This was Tamonika Events’ concept for the Old Mutual Broker Distribution Awards which took place backstage at the National Theatre of Namibia on 28 February.  dB Audio Namibia complemented this visionary concept with the required technical event support. Team dB partnered with popular musician Big Ben to create an amazing audience experience for his concert at the Zoo Park on 02 March 2019.
“As an Otjherero speaking Namibian, I am so inspired by Big Ben’s music. He sings about everyday issues which we can really relate to. I am a big fan, so it was extra special for me to be working on this show,” explains our Lighting Department’s Leena Tjithunga. (Pictures:  NawaZone)

| Lira's 40th birthday |

We partnered with the Warehouse Theatre by providing some high-end lighting fixtures for Lira’s 40th birthday concert on 14 March. Some of our Team also attended the show. “It was an unforgettable experience – Lize Ehlers and Sean K made Namibia proud and Lira was pure perfection. It was really nice to just enjoy a show without working on it,” says our Sound Department’s Dirkie Mareka. Adds our Client Service Department’s JD Januarie: “It was so nice to meet Lira in person. And boy, what a voice! Not a single wrong note came out of her mouth. I am so inspired!”

ONE NAMIBIA, ONE NATION! Team dB prepared for Namibia’s 29th Independence anniversary by wearing traditional attire to work on 20 March.  “Here at dB Audio Namibia we come from different cultures and backgrounds, but we work together as a TEAM.  Just like Namibians come from many cultures to make up one NATION”, explains our Warehouse Coordinator, Jonas Nakanyala.

| Ongoing Professional Development |

Occupational Health & Safety covers many areas and Team dB recently continued our professional development in this field with a useful introduction to self-defence by Marco Grünert from SurvivalZone Academy.  Says our Fleet Department’s Elton Stephanus: “I often drop colleagues off late at night and sometimes I worry about ‘naughty people’ hanging around.  It was very interesting to hear about the things I can do to make myself safer, and how to be ready when there is conflict.  I appreciate this awareness and definitely look forward to more of these lessons.”

Karel Simbwae is a junior technician in our Audio Visual department.  “I first began working at dB Audio Namibia in 2017 as a casual Audio-Visual Assistant and then applied for a permanent position in the AV Department in April 2018. Like most things in life, being an Audio-Visual Technician was very hard in the beginning, but over time I received in-house training and taught myself so that I could become a better and more confident technician. I keep developing myself in order to deliver the company’s purpose, vision, mission, and values professionally to our vast clientele.
