Star Republican Women will hold its Annual Meeting Tuesday, November 20 at Quail Point Community Center. A complimentary light lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 1:00.

SRW members will vote on proposed changes to the club's Bylaws.  Most of the proposed changes are to ensure that SRW is in compliance with Texas Federation of Republican Women's bylaws.  In addition, the following items are proposed specific to our chapter:

  • Terms of Office:  Officers will serve two-year terms (vs. one-year)
  • Committees:  Deletion of the telephone committee.

For a copy of the proposed Bylaws, click on the button below.

SRW members also will elect officers starting their term of office in January 2019.  As announced in early October, the SRW-elected Nominating Committee proposes the following slate of officers:

  • President:  Denise Rives
  • VP of Programs:  Marsha Lovelady
  • VP of Membership:  Kathy Stahl
  • Treasurer:  Charlote Steindorf
  • Secretary:  Debbie Lambert

Nominations for additional candidates may be made from the floor during the annual meeting.

Following the annual meeting, Llano County GOP Chairman Doug Sanders will provide an update on the state of the Republican Party in Llano County and an overview of the 2018 elections.

SRW members and associates are encouraged to attend the Nov. 20 annual meeting.  Guests are welcome.

Gennie's Spotlight

Our time is Now to Win this Major Election!  All of us have to do our very best in reaching out to everyone we know to get out the vote.

Make those extra calls and volunteer to drive people to the polls. There is a call for each one of us to work up to election night to do our very best.

There is no doubt the Democratic Party is putting everything they can into this election, money, Hollywood, Obama, Lies and whatever it takes to Win. They are desperate and stop at nothing!

I worked the early elections as many of you did and the voter turnout was heavy. Let's make it clear to the Democrats that we love our Country, our freedoms, our God, our right for Life and our Constitution. This is so very important to us all.

Please make that extra effort Now. Let us not sit back and say, I should have done more!

To all of you I say, it has been a pleasure to serve as your President. A truly great Honor, and I thank each and every one of you for working so hard for our Republican Party.

God Bless you All and Keep Texas Red!

Gennie Ward, SRW President

SRW Supports CASA Children Through Book Drive

Picture

In October, Star Republican Women announced a new program to provide books to the 274 children currently in foster care in the Highland Lakes Area.

The program is being co-sponsored by SRW's Literacy and Caring for America Committees.

SRW members are asked to bring children's books to the November 20 annual meeting or to our Christmas luncheon. The books will be delivered to CASA for the Highland Lakes Area to distribute to the children in need.

When purchasing books for this effort, consider those books that can be read to toddlers which are greatly needed.  For older children, books that are designated as Level 1 or Level 2 readers are needed to get them where they need to be in the classroom.  Safe bets are those having received the Newbery Award or the National Book Award Winner.  If your children or grandchildren would love the book, these children will as well!

Bring one or several books for children to the SRW Annual Meeting, Tuesday Nov. 20, to help area foster children.

SRW to Help Flood Victims

Although the waters have subsided from the recent historic flooding in the Hill Country, the needs of the flood victims have not.  So SRW's Caring For America Committee requests that you help provide support to those in need.

Committee Chairman Marsha Lovelady has identified a way for us to help by donating cash or HEB or WalMart gift cards to a Llano County flood disaster fund. Those in charge of the fund will distribute to those who qualify for assistance.

Bring your contributions to the November 20 Annual Meeting or to our Christmas luncheon.

Red Shoe Book Club

To Meet November 27

Picture

Star Republican Women's Red Shoe Book Club will meet Tuesday, November 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Lantana Room at the Horseshoe Bay Resort.

The featured book selection is “A Piece of the World” by Christina Baker Kline.

This book is a powerful story of a woman who lives on her family farm in Maine, tied to her home by health and circumstance.  She becomes  Andrew Wyeth's first great inspiration and the subject of one of the world's best known paintings, Chirstina's World.

The discussion will be led by our 2018 Literacy Committee Chairman Dee Patterson.

The book review will be followed by a C.H.A.T. (Chicks Having an Awesome Time) about a timely topic and led by Legislation Committee Chairman and Secretary Kathy Hussey.

We hope you will wear your red shoes and join us for a lively time of sharing our thoughts and views about this intriguing book.
