Event Focus

This event will be structured to allow time for closed eye Ascension, a more expanded offering of physical yoga throughout the day as well as an exploration of the Yoga traditions of old (including diet and breathing exercises) and how any of these concepts may enhance the Art of Ascension practice in your day to day life.

This event will incorporate the physical practice of yogic postures more than the typical Ascension event or retreat.  There will also be more discussion time to explore traditional concepts and ideas of yoga.

The purpose of the event is to explore ways to enhance the mental practice of Ascension by gaining a stronger relationship to our ability to support the process of expansion of consciousness.

Change begins in the mind & radiates outward to the body.  Ascenders with or without yoga experience are welcome to join.  There will be something for all levels, including those that might just want to watch for starters.

Yoga

The literal meaning of Yoga is to “yoke” or “unite”. Patanjali, the father of yoga over 5,000 years ago said the purpose of yoga is to unite the higher or big “S” Self to the lower limited self of the waking state. For this union to occur the aspirant must turn their active attention in the direction of the higher Self.

Ascension

The Art of Ascension is the mental tools that help assist the aspirant in the goal of union with the higher Self. This practice strengthens the minds ability to focus and the discipline required so a person does not easily become distracted with the cares of the world yet can live in it.

Postures

Paramahansa Yoganada was quoted saying “the only reason for physical yoga is to prepare the mind for meditation”. The body can be a deterrent for clear experiences when it is in pain or carrying around too much tension. Yoga postures can help to free the mind by relaxing the body.
