Eager scholars and teachers are almost out the door to summer, but not without celebrating some lives to learn from! Core Virtues does not spotlight a single hero in June because we offer so many excellent options in our June tab. June is also Immigrant Heritage Month. You'll find a treasure trove of inspirational immigrants here. This is our last newsletter until late August. We wish you and your students restful, restorative leisure — fueled by many good books!
2024 has brought many fine new "Lives to Learn From." Among them are: the best new picture book biography of scientist Marie Curie in decades, an inspirational story of immigrant publisher Abe Cahan, the extraordinary life of naturalist David Attenborough, and the surprising career of pioneering wildlife photographer, Gene Stratton-Porter.

“Telling Our Stories is such a lovely book—a cheerful reminder that powerful examples of virtue fill the pages of the best stories, and that to learn and teach the habits of virtue, we must merely learn to notice them.”
– Kathleen O’Toole, Assistant Provost for K-12 Education, Hillsdale College

We hope teachers will enjoy this slender "coffee break" book. It is a compendium of Telling Our Stories essays which we have featured for teachers over the years, keyed to the monthly virtues. One cup of coffee (or tea) is just about enough time for one essay -- and a chat with friends. This book will be an affordable addition to any teachers' lounge (where we know that teachers seldom lounge). Why not order a dozen?
