The path to successful entrepreneurship will be given a brilliant Tipperary spotlight in the New Year when seven business trail blazers will give their insights at a special event at Questum in Clonmel. Entrepreneur in Residence at Questum, a LIT Enterprise Acceleration Centre, Tom Brennan has drawn together an unprecedented line-up of proven business people who will invigorate start-up and early stage businesses for the year ahead at the Entrepreneurs Day event on January 10 promoted by Tipperary County Council and LIT. Tom who co-founded EirGen Pharma, which today employs over 250 people and was acquired by New York Stock Exchange listed OPKO in 2015, will host the half-day event that will be an unmissable opportunity for budding or early stage entrepreneurs. Tom and all seven of his guests are former finalists in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of Year. [email protected] Looking forward to Finding a Voice 2020 Already in the past two years, Finding a Voice has programmed music by more than 50 women composers, arrangers, and musicians, and this number is set to grow again in 2020. Once again, the music of several Irish women composers will be featured, including Joan Trimble, Ailís Ní Ríain, Siobhán Cleary, Edel Sullivan, Anne-Marie O’Farrell, and a new commission from Gráinne Mulvey. Earlier this week, Finding a Voice were delighted to announce Rose Connolly as the winner of the 2020 Competition for emerging Women Composers. Rose is a student at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and her piece will be premiered in a lunchtime concert on International Women's Day. In 2020, Finding a Voice will focus on broadening the genres covered in the previous two years, to include traditional Irish music and jazz, in addition to music from the seventeenth century to the present day. Listen Now Back for Business Programme Launches Appeal A call has gone out to returned emigrants to Tipperary who are starting and developing businesses in Ireland to join the latest cycle of the highly-successful Back for Business developmental programme. The call was launched by Minister of State for the Diaspora and International Development Ciarán Cannon. A call for applicants for an initiative to help returned emigrants start and develop businesses in Ireland has been launched today by Minister of State for the Diaspora and International Development Ciarán Cannon T. D. This is the third year of the highly-successful Back for Business developmental programme, which is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Launching the call for applicants, Minister Ciarán Cannon T.D. said: “Global Irish – Ireland’s Diaspora Policy, supports the successful return to Ireland of our Diaspora. Back for Business is a practical measure to implement this commitment. This programme can make a real difference to returned and returning emigrants, who want to establish new businesses in Ireland. The successful delivery of this programme will enable these entrepreneurs to build new businesses and contribute to our economy and society.” The initiative was established to support entrepreneurial activity among returned emigrants who have lived abroad for at least a year and have returned in the last three years. Those planning to return in the near future will also be considered. The call is open for applications for the 2020 programme, which will run from January to July 2020. There is no charge for those selected to participate and the closing date for applications is January 7, 2020.
