 ITAT Takes Down Tobacco

Although school is not in session, ITAT students stayed busy this month with their #TAKEDOWNTOBACCO challenge. ITAT students participated in an Instagram challenge that spread awareness on the dangers of tobacco and vaping. Our island teens posted their personal reasons for staying tobacco and vape free, included the hashtag #TAKEDOWNTOBACCO and tagged 5 of their social media friends to participate in the challenge as well. ITAT students were creative and enthusiastic in their posts, including pictures, videos, and songs, and were able to have non-ITAT members participate in the challenge as well! We are so proud of our island teens for doing important advocacy work, even during social distancing!

                             Census 2020

It's that time again! Census time. Please make sure your household fills out the 2020 census. Its crucial for the Pacific Islander community to be properly represented in the United States, and one of the best  ways to do that is by completing the census! It can be filled out by mail or online at mycensus2020.gov.

                  Corona Virus Update

Although Utah has opened many businesses, it is always good to be cautious and practice good hygiene, especially during this time! Don't forget to wear a mask to public places, and wash your hands often! Stay Safe everyone!

In addition, during this COVID-19 pandemic we have seen in Utah that Pacific Islanders are being disproportionately impacted by the virus. This is due in part to the multi-generational living situations that are common in our community. The state average for positive tests in Utah is 4-5%, but the percentage of Pacific Islanders testing positive is above 10%.

Upcoming Events:

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Kick Butts Day/Take Down Tobacco has been cancelled.
