Hello,

The excitement builds...We have a Norman Update!

Norman is in the home corral, and we are pushing hard to get him down the ally to the publishing and printing loading chutes! It won't be long until we are at the doors of the sale barn.

If you have not added your name to the list so we can contact you when Norman becomes available to purchase, there is no time like the present.

Did You Know?

Writing some books can take mere hours to finish, yet others may take years. Either way, this is when an author will tell you that the hard work is about to begin, at that very moment when the words 'The End' are penned.

Writing books for children isn't any different than writing other genres when it comes right down to it. The steps still have to fall into place. There is editing and re-writes, book cover creations, and beta reader input. The biggest challenge with children's books is finding an illustrator, one who would understand and appreciate the characters and brings them to life.

In the end, the trials and tribulations are worth it when each part of the writing chapter closes and the final tick mark is placed beside the lengthy 'to do list' writers face when they embark on writing a book.

Celebrate in November

This week's extra calendar celebration days include:

November 7 - Daylight Savings Ends

Having trouble remembering whether it's move the time ahead or back? Think of this - Spring Ahead - Fall Back.

November 10 - Young Reader Day

Encouraging young people to enjoy reading need not be difficult. If they have a specific topics of interest, it makes it a lot easier to provide them with books, magazines, or literature that they will read. Taking the time to read to young children gives them quality time with the reader, learning vocabulary, and listening skills. It has been suggested that children who are read to from a young age become avid readers as they grow older.

Through others, they will maybe read or hear about Remembrance Day. It is not an easy topic to expound on; however, it is part of our history and should not be forgotten.

November 11 - Remembrance Day

Through others, young readers may read or hear about Remembrance Day. Having a day dedicated to young readers is a perfect time to expand their knowlege on the meaning and history of November 11. It is not an easy topic to elaborate; however, it is part of our history and should not be forgotten.

A collection of my writing in remembrance of the men and women who served and are serving our country.

Me?

Every six to eight weeks, depending on the schedule, I write a column called Quiet Spirits for the CRLC (Carrot Ranch Literary Community). My turn came to the top of the list for November 9.

Thoughts to Ponder is the title of this month's column, and once it is live, I will share the link with  you here. Previous links to columns I have written for the CRLC can be found on our Meet the Author Page - Guest Posts - CRLC Quiet Spirits Column.

Gravel travel was on the agenda this past week. How lucky I was to be able to include an afternoon with our daughter and grandson at Big Hill Provincial Park. I discovered a new section in the fine print of the Nana handbook - "find small twigs for the young man to throw into the creek".
