The Boy Who Loved Everyone

Tuesday

Tuesday is about a surreal adventure that takes place over a Tuesday night.

The illustrations are cinematic, and though the story takes place across a single scene, it feels rich and deep.

The author accomplishes this with tight sequential scenes and an ending that calls back to the beginning.

  • Last week I struggled with the book, The Boy Who Loved Everyone. So when I saw Don't Hug Doug (He Doesn't Like It), I had to read it. The story is very similar, it is about how everyone expresses love differently but also talks about consent. Don't Hug Doug (He Doesn't Like It) is more on the nose, but perhaps that is what a subject like this requires.

If you recall, I was critical of Mell Fell in a past newsletter. The story is about a bird who leaves the nest and instead of flying, falls. The moral is that not everything works out in the beginning. Even though it struck me in the wrong way, it would be a great gift for a recent graduate.

"Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create." -Roy T. Bennett

Someone once compared controlling the world or people around you to combing your reflection in the mirror. It doesn't work.

But you can make an effort every day to put things out into the world that reflect the good things you want to see.

Creation is also a great way to take your mind off the never-ending cycle of worry.

This week, take all the energy you might spend worrying and put it into a creative activity that nourishes your spirit.
