Enquire Now UPMC Names CIO to Lead Technology Efforts Tipperary applicants were pipped at the post by Kilkenny lady, Joanne Fanning, who was this week appointed chief information officer at UPMC in Ireland and head of the new UPMC Global Technology Operations Centre. UPMC includes our member company, Waterford based, The Whitfield Hospital. Joanne Fanning is the first person named to this position in Ireland which will be based at McDonagh Junction in Co.Kilkenny. “I’m very much looking forward to joining this dynamic team to realise our ambitious plans for UPMC in Ireland and beyond,” said Fanning. “My team and I will enhance UPMC’s already distinguished track record in applying technology to improve care, and in developing innovative solutions. As a leading academic medical center, UPMC has the resources and deep expertise to really move the dial in making life-changing medicine a reality for our patients around the world.” Serving patients in Ireland for nearly 15 years, UPMC — consistently named a “Most Wired” health system for its advanced use of technology — has been steadily investing in new technologies to better serve patients and clinicians at its facilities in Waterford, Clane, Carlow and Cork. Supported by the Irish government through IDA Ireland, the new centre will be located in MacDonagh Junction and is expected to employ up to 60 skilled technology workers and other support staff over the next three years. The County Board has finalised details of its pricing for online streaming of games, announcing weekend and season packages, while season ticket holders will receive free access to the service. Read More Clonmel Gardai Fundraiser Gardaí and Garda staff in Clonmel have set off on a major fundraising venture. They aim to walk, run or cycle 3,000 kilometres over the next 48 hours Funds raised will be divided equally between two causes – the first beneficiary is Heidi Griffin, a 2 year old girl from Clerihan who has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. The second beneficiary is C-Saw, a voluntary organisation based in Clonmel which provides a service to help reduce the number of suicides in South Tipperary. The fundraising event will finish at 7am on Sunday morning. Superintendent Willie Leahy is among those taking part. “There’s 8 or 9 of us doing a 200 kilometre cycle today.
