Logging On Season 2 Premiere - 

Ian: After a long hiatus, we are bringing Logging On back from the dead! It’ll be a bit different than what it used to be, but change is nice and warranted to keep this newsletter as creative as possible. Yes, you should still expect link dumps and music from indie-sleaze adjacent artists.

You’ll notice that this won’t solely be a solo endeavour moving forward. Adding Rae into this allows you all a peek into our smooth brained communications and I want to keep this shit fun for as long as I can.

I: And by fun, we mean partaking in the absolute lowest form of content in the new year. In and Out lists. I wanted to re-word this list to match what Street Night Live went with (Things I Want To See More Of vs. Things I Want To See Less Of), but nah. Being a hater is fine. Embrace it.

R: This list is presented with no comment, and no - I will not further elaborate.

I: I've got no issues with workwear, but double knee pants have seen an end to their top spot of desirable pants.

I: It’s a shame to see mohair cardigans hit the proverbial ceiling, but there’s a ton of other knitwear styles that deserve some shine. Like these cashmere polos from Tricot, waffle knits from Outerknown, this cropped v-neck ribbed sweater from Lady White Co. There’s a whole world of beautiful, sumptuous knits, so you don’t have to be the guy alone in the corner wearing a Needles mohair cardigan.

IAN:

I: Despite what Rae said, I will elaborate on some points in my list.

• Black Pants - Now when I say black pants, I specifically am aiming at any and all brands that make amazing pants in literally every other colour except for black. No one asked for purple corduroy painter pants, but we do want (dare I say NEED) that in black.

• Cashmere knits - Why strictly cashmere you ask? What’s life without whimsy? Plus buttery soft delicate fibres on bare skin. No further questioning needed.

• Fake Goyard - Because fakes of a would-be $700 wallet paint a far better story.

• Fixing/repairing/mending - For one it’s a flex to know how to fix things. Secondly, imagine how much money you’d save by patching that hole in your pleated trousers. Plus, sashiko mending looks incredible when done right and someone might mistake it for some expensive Japanese garm. Finally, think of all that extra cash you could splash on other wildly overpriced clothes! 
  

OUT

• Uncomfortably oversized clothes are not sexy when you look like you’re drowning in a pool of fabrics. Wear the clothes, DO NOT let the clothes wear you.

• DJ Khaled - Look I’m not gonna defend why I like golfing, but I can with 100% certainty tell you that DJ Khaled golfing videos are the dregs of the sport. Please stop.

• Using Stories to Long Post - The last thing I want to see are people using stories as a placeholder to rant or long post. I want low forms of content, but your missing luggage and anger at delayed flights is even too low for me.

• Double Knee Pants - I present to you this meme:

R: Double Knees - Yes, I take personal offense to this.

R: On Gen Z Fashion TikTok, I’ve always thought that the discourse around it has always felt very “old man yells at cloud” / hating on it for the sake of being from a younger generation. Is it basically Y2K culture re-packaged for today? Mostly. Is it a little dumb? Probably. Will we look back on it in a similar fondness as Mid 2000’s Tumblr Swag Era photos? I really hope so. 

I: Funny enough it’s not so much me being upset about the younger crowd. It’s growing up in that era and seeing the exact same clothes from that period gives me flashbacks of the ugly garm battefields. But this is how personal taste blossoms, so I’m just validating myself of being a hater.

THIS JUST IN: PERSONAL STYLE IS DEAD AND THE ALGORITHM KILLED IT. Damn you TikTok. Damn you to hell.

R: As we end the era of the core-ification of every single microtrend, one winner remains: Gnomecore. Long live the gnome.

I: I’ve gotta backpack on this one and agree. This is the best core microtrend that’s ever existed because this is what I identify with.

R: Haven, Hearth Blanket + Pallium Robe

R: Made of luxurious Loro Piana Capolavoro double-faced virgin wool, I’d get this and immediately spill my uber eats order on it.

I: Knickerbocker x Fracap Hiker Shoe

I: I absolutely love this collaboration and I think this particular silhouette is outstanding. Not bulky or overtly chunky, these are THE ‘hiker’ shoes I’ve been searching for.
