thank you second harvest food drive
Huge thanks to Dana Hartman for leading our Second Harvest Food Bank donation drive this year. She got students, staff and parents motivated to bring in lots of food donations - we filled over 12 barrels ! Thanks also to Aurelie De La Broise, Kiran Kamboj and Susan Rau for organizing the hundreds of bags for students to decorate in their Ormondale "families".
And a BIG THANK YOU to everyone for their great donations!

We love our volunteer community!
Last Sunday, 60+ volunteers (kids, parents, grandparents as well as our principal and superintendent!) spent the morning making CMS a more beautiful campus. Volunteers pulled weeds, picked up litter, completely TRANSFORMED the garden area and hauled away broken sports equipment and classroom furniture.
It was truly a team effort and such a wonderful sight to see so many give up their Sunday to make our campus beautiful!
If you see Kim Zamboldi or Brook Coffee around town, give them a pat on the back for organizing this now-tradition! Way to go!

Your foundation dollars at work
Science equipment!
A molecule set that kids manipulate to learn how the parts fit together. CO2 and 02 sensors to measure gas level changes for Environmental Science experiments. Four additional microscopes plus one with a camera for teachers to display slides on smart board screens. An additional plant lighthouse and pedometers to compare walking distance, pace and heart rate.
With a grant from the Portola Valley Schools Foundation, Corte Madera’s Science teachers purchased new lab equipment to adapt their instruction to the newest Science education curriculum. The recently adopted Next Generation Science Standards integrate Life, Earth and Physical Science in a way that spirals outward, meaning grades 6, 7 and 8 work with the same equipment year-round. That required new and additional pieces so there are enough for all three grades to work simultaneously.
“By enriching the experience for students in all sixth through eighth grade classes, this will help improve and motivate students to stay interested in Science and learn through hands-on experiments,” the teachers wrote in their grant. “It will help them understand important Science concepts. Not only is this more engaging, but it also can lead to more Scientific discoveries by the students.“
