Whoever came up with the saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun” was right on. Four quick years ago, Plantables opened its doors. With the help and encouragement of so many wonderful people, we created a worker-focused business that we are so proud of. We remain committed to employing an underrepresented group of deserving workers while creating products that will beautify gardens and help our important pollinator friends. We are thrilled with the success that we’ve accomplished thanks to your support, but we know there is so much more that needs to be done. So for the next four years, we promise to continue to work hard to be the best worker-focused business imaginable, and a business model that hopefully inspires others.

Worker Bee Spotlight

Cody (front) with job coach Jackie

If you hear Annie or Chipmunks music playing loudly at Plantables, you know that Cody is “in the house”.  Four years ago, Cody entered our warehouse and became our very FIRST worker that we ever employed!! And over those four years, Cody has grown significantly as one of our finest employees. You will usually find Cody working the paper making station, but he also works on the die-cutting station as well as filling the molds with birdseed mixture to make our birdseed wreaths. And if we ever need the warehouse to be cleaned, Cody is ALWAYS our man! And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention Cody’s job coach, Jackie. Jackie has been incredibly instrumental in Cody reaching his potential at Plantables. They make quite the formidable team! Let’s hear it for both Cody and Jackie, who help make Plantables a special place

Leave the Leaves!

Winter is about to rear its ugly head here in chilly Wisconsin and throughout the US, and soon your backyard may be covered in thick sheets of snow (if it isn't already). Now is the time to break out the rakes and bag up those autumn leaves. However, if you're not particularly into yard work, we've got a fantastic reason for you to shirk the raking – BEES! That’s right BEES! Leaf debris provides a wonderful place for those fuzzy bumble bee queens and other native bees (there’s over 3,500 in North America) to survive the bitter cold as well as predators. So put down the rakes and for the sake of our bees (and butterflies too), “leave the leaves”!!
