dB Audio Namibia collaborated closely with the GMP team to design and execute the concert’s technical requirements.

The First Lady of the Republic of Namibia, Mrs Monica Geingos, launched the One Economy Foundation in 2016 as a Section 21 non-profit organization to actively build a bridge to inclusivity for as many Namibians as possible.

An annual fundraising gala has become synonymous with the foundation’s activities and this year’s glamorous soiree took place on 3 August 2019 at Windhoek’s Safari Hotel. dB Audio Namibia supported Tamonika Events with all required technical support for the event which saw several Namibian artists from various genres entertain a sold-out crowd.

A two-day summit organised by the President’s high-level panel on the Namibian economy, took place in Windhoek on 31 July and 01 August 2019.  Under the theme ‘Economic Revival for Inclusive Growth – Strengthening the Namibian House’, the summit was aimed at reviving and growing the domestic economy, creating job opportunities, attracting investment, promoting the country as an attractive investment and tourist location and removing obstacles that are impeding the growth of the economy.

dB Audio Namibia provided Oxygen Communications with technical support for the plenary venue as well as a gala dinner on 31 July.  We also supported Oxygen and Twafiika Consultants with technical support for 9 breakaway sessions.

| Continuous Professional Development |

Picture

Team dB’s Sound Department brushed up on their skills during July by visiting Stage Audio Works in Johannesburg on two occasions for d&b Audiotechnic workshops.  Gerhardus Engelbrecht and Dirkie Mareka’s session dealt with Sound System Optimisation and Dante training, while Jose Amutenya’s focused on Line Array.

“Since I started at dB earlier this year, I have really enjoyed working with the d&b range and was very excited to get in-depth product knowledge straight from the manufacturer. It was also great to network with so many sound technicians from across South Africa and even as far as Mauritius,” explains Jose.

| Mediatech Africa |

Picture

Mediatech Africa is the leading media and entertainment technology trade show on the African continent. Since it also offers educational seminars on the latest trends, approaches and technologies relevant to the technical live events industry, it is the ideal platform to expose Team dB to the bigger picture.  An excited team from across all positions within dB Audio Namibia, including some serious Girl Power, represented us from 17 to 20 July in Johannesburg at the bi-annual event.

| Show Calling Exposure |

Picture

Totally inspired by her fellow dB Show Callers’ exposure last year, our Client Service Representative Sadia Melani (who is a Show Caller in an additional support role), was determined to get the same exposure for her and her colleague JD Januarie.  So she came up with a proposal for an attachment for them with the renowned theatre- & events specialist Vanessa Nicolau, as Vanessa and her team prepared for a dance spectacular at the Johannesburg Theatre during July.

JD: “It was such a great experience.  It broadened my perspective about the various technical aspects to be kept in mind before, during and after a production. I loved it!”

| Meet the Team |

José Amutenya is a Junior Sound Technician in Team dB Audio Namibia. “I am a 24-year old born and bred Windhoeker.  I have always been interested in the arts, and specifically in the technical side of things, so I studied TV Production at the College for the Arts. Even though I like camerawork and video editing, my main love is sound and I dream of becoming a legit sound engineer one day.  It was so inspiring to meet other people who are just as crazy about sound when I attended a workshop in Johannesburg recently.  Apart from live PA work, I also DJ and produce beats. And I read a lot and am into Pan-African thought. I truly believe that hard work and passion allows you to best that you can be.”
