Pathways Rhythms May 2022 Meadowlands Transformation By early June you can expect Meadowlands to look very different from how it has looked for the last 5 years. Five years ago, Pathways bought what we call Meadowlands, the 3 ½ acre parcel immediately East of the retreat house. We mowed a trail around it, and then let it lie fallow while we discerned what to do with the land. At the end of May we will begin a five-year process of removing invasive tall fescue grass and replacing it with a native short-grass prairie . By the end of June, when you walk into Meadowlands we expect it to look brown and dead, with a bright green trail around the perimeter. It may be a bit of a shock compared to what is there now. In future newsletters, we’ll share more about how this work is central to the mission, vision, and values of Pathways Retreat. In the meantime, we wanted to make sure you weren’t alarmed by what you saw. In nature, as in human life, transformation can sometimes take a very long time. Join with us in watching how this space will be transformed in the years to come. Resurrection Stations and Cards Through June 4 The seven Stations of the Resurrection , painted by watercolor artist Sylvie Gudin, will be in the Pathways woods until Pentecost - June 4. Cards are also available in the Retreat House for a $20-25 donation for the set of seven. Contemplative Practice of the Month Meditating on New Life, inspired by Joyce Rupp, is the practice for May. She offers a meditation on the liminal experience of standing on a threshold and the new life that wants to emerge. Rupp offers this prayer: Gestating Spirit, your gifts of transformation await me on every threshold. Raise what has died in me. Refresh it with your touch. I open the door of my heart to you.
