Do you believe in the power of early childhood education? Do you think it lays a foundation for future curiosity and a love of learning? Do you think that families are integral to this foundation? Do you think it should be accessible for all? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please explore the pages of our June Newsletter to learn more about what is happening at Escuela Cooperativa de Sayulita.
This has been a challenging year for the children and families of Sayulita. Schools were not allowed to open due to COVID-19, but our teachers continued to work at a distance like so many others around the world. They created learning kits for each family to use at home and did their best to evaluate individual progress through videos and photos. In late May, we welcomed the children back to the classroom and schoolyard.
It is clear through these photos just how excited the children are to see their friends and be back at school where they collaborate and learn from each other in true Montessori style.
Thanks to our very generous donors, we took the opportunity to add equipment to the school grounds while the school remained closed. Also, in the true cooperative nature of Escuela, the families continued to take turns maintaining the grounds by raking and cleaning the equipment.
Our teachers, Marthita and Nancy, hosted a celebration for Children's Day with small groups who took turns coming to the school.
