A Tibetan Buddhist Centre in the Sakya Tradition

Issue 61 February 2022

Dear Dharma friends,

HAPPY LOSAR 2049 the year of the Water Tiger from Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe and all at Kamalashila Tibetan Buddhist Centre!
Traditionally, Tibetans celebrate Losar for 3 days. This year Losar falls from 3 to 5 March. At Kamalashila Tibetan Centre, we will be celebrating Losar and hanging prayer flags on the third day of Losar, Saturday 5 March. The hanging of prayer flags or ‘Wind Horses’ on this day is said to bring very good fortune, bringing good luck and success to one's life. This year, Drogmi Buddhist Institute is offering you the opportunity to participate with the minimum sponsorship of $5. We will write your name, or family's name, on the flag and hang it up at the centre on this day for you, Saturday 5 March. Read more…

AUSPICIOUS ENTHRONEMENT OF THE 43RD SAKYA TRIZIN: HIS HOLINESS KHÖNDUNG GYANA VAJRA RINPOCHE
The very auspicious occasion of the Enthronement of His Holiness Khöndung Gyana Vajra Rinpoche as the 43rd Sakya Trizin will be taking place at Sakya Thubten Namgyal Ling (the Sakya Institute) in Puruwala India on 16 & 17 March 2022. We rejoice in this most special occasion ensuring the continuation of the unbroken Sakya lineage. With travel to and within India problematic, as is return to Australia, DBI will not be able to be represented at the Enthronement in person however we are immensely fortunate that the entire enthronement ceremony will be live streamed over YouTube, Facebook and Zoom.
As is customary, Drogmi Buddhist Institute will be making a Tenshug offering to His Holiness on behalf of all DBI members and friends. The offering will be presented on our behalf by monks attending the Enthronement. Please let us know if you would like to make a financial contribution as part of the DBI Tenshug offering. We would ask that you indicate your offering by Thursday 3 March to Jack Heath [email protected]

Yours in the dharma

Khenpo la welcomed everyone attending the 13th Annual General Meeting of Drogmi Buddhist Institute both in person and via Zoom. Khenpo noted that despite COVID-19, the Centre had held a lot of online teachings and students said that the guided online meditations had helped to maintain their connection to the Dharma during the lockdowns. Even though COVID had the power to stop most things, it did not have the power to stop the Dharma.

FROM OUR MASTERS

“Meditation is not to escape from society, but to come back to ourselves, and see what is going on. Once there is seeing, there must be acting. With mindfulness we know what to do and what not to do to help.”
