Melyssa is working towards a Master’s in Social Work through Missouri State University. She will be working with M.A.R.C.H. Inc. from January to May 2024 to complete her 500 internship hours required for her degree. We are so pleased to report that courtesy of the $5000 AAMLF grant, we are able to provide our Supervised Visitation (SV) contract providers with two options for professional development through the Supervised Visitation Network (SVN) for free.

Option 1: Key Concepts for SV Providers Online Training (value $149) https://www.svnworldwide.org/key-concepts

This 8 hour online program can be taken whenever it is convenient for the visit supervisor. It covers Keys for Best Practice, Neutrality, Ethics, Safety, Trauma, Intervention, Collaboration and Documentation.


Option 2: Virtual 24-hour SV Provider Certificate Training (value $550)

This 3-day online program requires your attendance each day. A post-training test score of 80% is required for the Certificate. Training topics include:

  • SVN Standards;
  • Provider policies and procedures;
  • Safety for all participants;
  • Mandatory child abuse reporting;
  • Professional boundaries, conflict of interest, confidentiality, and maintenance of neutrality;
  • Effects of separation and divorce on children and families;
  • Family violence, including domestic violence and the effects of domestic violence on children;
  • Cultural sensitivity and diversity;
  • Child abuse, including child sexual abuse and neglect;
  • Substance abuse;
  • Provisions of service to parents and children with mental health and developmental issues or other physical or emotional impairment;
  • Parent introduction/reintroduction;
  • Assertiveness training and conflict resolution;
  • How and when to intervene during exchanges to protect and maintain the safety of all participants; and
  • Relevant laws regarding child custody and visitation and child protection.
