| ISLAND TEENS ADVOCACY TEAM ITAT NEWSLETTER JULY 2024 Our awesome ITAT students performing at the Miss Tausala Pageant! Busy Summer! This July has been an incredibly busy yet fulfilling month for our team and students. Our WJHS POP Class collaborated with The Miss Tausala America Pageant, a platform celebrating Young Samoan American Women through cultural showcases and service projects. Throughout the pageant week, our students engaged in tabling opportunities at all events, sharing the missions and visions of POP & ITAT with attendees. This involvement included helping with pageant preparations and promoting mental health awareness in the Polynesian community. One contestant, a former ITAT/POP student from Bingham High School, focused her platform on this critical issue, with our students canvassing attendees to raise awareness and encourage participation in related events. Additionally, our students took part in the Annual Samoan Heritage Festival, celebrating their culture through dance, music, and community engagement. They proudly opened the festivities with their Siva Samoa, performing for an audience of over 800 people. Additionally, our students hosted a table to promote our ITAT clubs, integrating our cultural heritage with our educational mission. We're proud of our students continuing to stay engaged even during summer months to keep the ITAT mission alive through teaching others and sharing their talents.
