Good Neighbors

Michele Comunale shared a story about her family's memories of their mother Gertrude Comunale volunteering for Good Neighbors during the 1960's. Michele's youngest brother Mark made a type of device that would grind bars of soap into powder granules and then Gertrude added lye. The finished product was given to the Good Neighbors families to use as laundry detergent. Gertrude and Frank raised nine children but always made time to give back and help the community. Gertrude loved volunteering and believed in Good Neighbors and their mission. She also volunteered at hospitals and schools and  served as a Girl Scout Leader. She taught her children about service, money, time, commitment and to be involved in the community. Good Neighbors is grateful to the Comunale Family for their support.

We welcome our newly elected trustee Toni Amos and thank outgoing trustees Frank Copeland and Flo Iacobucci for their service and dedication.

Thank you to Patricia Stiles and Mike Trinko from the Green Good Neighbors Unit for hosting our last governing council meeting.

Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors

"I had the pleasure of attending an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Brennen Carano. The Eagle Badge is the highest honor a Boy Scout can achieve - less than 5% of scouts earn it. Brennen's Eagle Scout Project was acquiring, laying out, and assembling metal racking at Good Neighbors. Brennen is a member of Troop 155 at Northminster Church. The Troop, with Brennen's leadership, did a great job and provided us with much needed shelving. Thank you and congratulations Eagle Scout Brennen!" Bob Goldstein
Bob Goldstein reported that the Cuyahoga Falls High School Fresh Farm Program is providing the Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors with fresh produce as they do every year. The garden has been a learning project for the Cuyahoga Falls High School Students since 2015. In the 2020 growing season, they donated over 2,300 pounds of produce to community organizations.

During the first week in June, the Green Good Neighbors Volunteers started giving the plants to their clients. The clients were very happy to accept them and are hoping for some good productive plants.
The volunteers are in the process of moving their clothing room out of the church gym and into a new clothing room.
