Happy New Year

It's almost the end of January and surely that must mean that spring is around the corner? Perhaps its wishful thinking but I feel like after this last big cold snap hopefully the snow will start melting and we can jump into spring. Is it weird I am actually excited for the mud to come?

This year is starting out great with the spring 6 day courses filling up quickly (if you are interested in April or June register asap to avoid missing out) and the online course gaining momentum around the world!

I am super busy in the next month with a private trimming course - yes you read that right!, new for 2020 I am offering private trimming courses (see below for more info) around the regular course schedule. I also have another trip up to the Cariboo planned to help out a student with her client base while she is injured and also a much needed family vacation!

If you are a trimming client please make sure to book your horses in for their next trimming appointments early as the current wait list for appointments is 3-4 weeks due to all of the things I have going on.

New for 2020

Private Trimming Courses - In 2019 I ran two private courses for students that could not attend the regular 6 day course. Sometimes people are intimidated to learn how to trim in a group of other students or really want the one on one time and sometimes it is also challenging to line up your own schedule to my course schedule. The private course includes all of the same material as the 6 day course in a one on one environment that can be completed in 4-5 days. Offering private courses in and around the regular schedule will allow students to fit the course in on a couple of consecutive weekends, around long weekends or even on holidays if my schedule allows. I will be posting this to the website soon so stay tuned and contact me if you are looking for more info in the meantime.

OKSNHC Followers Connect Facebook - Due to popular demand I have decided to make our students only Facebook page available to the public. This page is a safe place to post photos, ask for help and connect with other barefoot trimmers/students and enthusiasts.  As admin of the group I will expect everyone to follow the rules and play nice. This group is meant to be an interactive place for people to connect and I will reserve the right to remove anyone that is interacting in a negative way without notice. This is also the easiest way to ask my advice about trimming techniques and any questions that you may have. If you are interested in joining click here. Please share this group with your friends if you think they would be interested as well.

The Study of the Equine Hoof

If you follow Lindsey Field and her page The Study of the Equine Hoof on Facebook or Patreon you might have noticed that I have sponsored her studies for January and February. Lindsey really puts a lot of effort into educating people about the internal anatomy of the hoof and various pathology that she finds. If you don't already follow her you should check her out!

For all of January until Feb 15 all of our OKSNHC and Precision Nippers are on sale for $80 plus taxes and shipping. Check them out in the store here. Offer applies to in stock items only.

We will be running a contest on Facebook in February to give away a free Online Course! Make sure to follow our page here so you don't miss the details!

On a personal note

January is one of my favorite months, not just just because it's my birthday but because for me the new year symbolizes a new beginning and time to make resolutions. As the sole driving force behind OKSNHC I can often get overwhelmed and burnt out trying to keep up with everything involved in running my own business. From handling all of the online social media, to trimming client's horses, teaching courses and shipping orders I always have my business on my mind. My goal this year is to find balance between building my business and working for my business. I am working on letting go of some of my own guilt when I take time off and instead focus on enjoying time with my family, friends and my horses. Last year I bought a bracelet with the quote on the left engraved on it. I wear this bracelet every single day as a constant reminder to slow down and enjoy the journey.

Throw back to the fall when I could still see the sand in the area. I sure hope winter is on its way out and that sand will be coming out from under the snow soon!
