Thanks to our December Dutchmight crew for a very special Happy New Year message (click here) to all of our Yoga Melrose students: past, present & future! YM: Tell us a little about yourself. PS: I live in Farming with my husband, Glen. I have 2 adult children and am looking forward to becoming a grandma in January. I work as a claims adjuster for Progressive. I grew up on a farm south of Freeport, attended grade school at Sacred Heart in Freeport and graduated from Albany High School. I enjoy reading, listening to audiobooks, and watching sports whether on TV or in person. In the summer I enjoy camping with family and friends. I also enjoy writing poems as part of special gifts for family and friends and love to create diaper cakes. YM: Tell us something unique about yourself. PS: I broke my collarbone 3 times by the time I was 5 years old. "Yoga not only helps with my back issues, it brings a calm to stressful work days and is time I use to take care of “me.” I like that everyone can do yoga and benefit from it." -Peggy *After 6 years of practice, Peggy has nearly trademarked this final resting/savasana pose we like to call: The Peggy 😀 Here's the recipe : 3 blankets, 1 bolster, 2 blocks, 2 sandbags, eye mask (optional). Fold & place one blanket on yoga mat. Add a folded blanket for head & neck support. Place lower legs on bolster with heels on blocks (to support low back). A teacher will cover you & add 2 sandbags on ankle area. Add eye mask. Now, you're ready for deep relaxation. THANK YOU , Peggy for sharing your practice with us. Flying Crow Pose ( Eka Pada Galavasana ) is a beneficial yoga pose for increasing arm and core strength, opening your hips, and improving balance. You can do this pose with 2 stacked blocks & a bolster. As a Virtual YM Member, you can practice & watch this class as Missy builds toward this posture. YM teachers feel strongly that yoga can be accessible to all bodies. HOW TO EMBRACE THE ANTI-DIET | CHRISTY HARRISON This time of year sometimes requires a reminder to honor our body.
